Forgotten spell

Does anyone know this spell? It's to pass a test.

I know you have to use a nut (think it's a hazelnut), a pin (think it's a straight pin) and a piece of cotton, but can't remember the colour. Than you bind them together. But can't even remember if there are any chants to go with it.

If any one can help I will be really grateful.
