I believe he has been fake practicing, meaning he tries casting Harry Potter spells with no success. That or he tried to do advanced magick with no medititation.

Real spells can be any language, and they do require specific formula's, not just saying levitate when you are wound up to the moon on sugar. Usually the spells that work do rhyme, for these spells have a proufound effect on your subconcious mind, and work better. However, some spells do not. Spells are things which allow to use energy to manipulate energy in the world ultimately making your magickal desire a reality. But one must have a sufficient amount of magickal energy energy in order to cast spells. The ammount of magickal energy you need will vary, however the more difficult the spell the more energy you will need. And, no, by difficulty I do not mean the directions and formulas I mean the spell itself, the level of the spell.
The best way to achieve the ammount of magick you need is through meditation, also cast spells themselves can improve your magickal abilities. A third eye is located on the crown of your head, where one of your chakra's is located, ultimately it allows you to see spirits. However, though this may sound like a useful and worth while tool to achieve it usually isn't it can be very troublesome, and is most indefinitely not something you want if your faint-hearted. It may sound cool now, for various reasons, maybe you've seen Bleach a couple times and want to be like Ichigo. But facing the facts this is real life we live in, and no seeing spirits all the time would not be pleasant. Also, just a side-note they are also very hard to open.
I would advise you to quit saying you've been practicing magick for four years, you have not.
