Making Your Own Incense

I've never had the time before, now that I do I'm teaching myself how to make incenses. My Question is: When I make my Tincture, What kind of Alcohol do I use? Rubbing, to 20-year old scotch, comes to mind. I just what to make sure I buy the correct alcohol. Have any of you make your own incense as of yet? Any useful suggestions?
