A vortex is a naturally, or synthetically made energy center.
There are two types of Vortices, but both can be used in similar ways. The first type of vortex is a naturally occurring one, the other is a synthetic one that we can make ourselves. For this I'll talk about how to make go about making a synthetic one, as not all of us are so lucky to have a vortex present in our homes.
When creating a vortex, like the thought-form, it shouldn't be taken very lightly at all. This technique should be reserved for when you really wish to focus a lot of energy into an object or a spell.
First we'll go simple, You'll need a few crystal points (pointed on one end only). How many will vary on what you are needing to do. Generally speaking for a quick reference, you can go by this quick little chart.

To begin with a very simple method, you will need just a few crystal points, nothing fancy. These can be natural quartz crystal points, or any other crystalline stones (amethyst and citrine for example) which have been cut to a point shape. The crystal points should be pointed only on one end- you do not want to use double terminals for this.

A vortex can be placed around anything or anyone.
Place the item to be amplified on your altar. Place the crystals on their sides, going in a circle, facing deosil (clockwise), as if they were chasing one another. Now draw down the divine energy to fill you vortex and start it moving: imagine the divine energy coming down in a thick column of a bluish-white light. See this light enter and encompass each crystal, filling them and then slowly beginning to move through each one with a limitless amount of energy. Let this slowly pick up speed and flow through all the crystals.
The vortex will remain until you take it down. To take a vortex down, you should remove any items that are there to be charged first unless you wish for the energy it's been filled with to dissipate. Thank your stones and the divine energy for their help. Visualize the column of light ascend and a yellow-white light cleanse your crystals one by one as you pick them up. To further cleanse them you can run them under cold running water, then dry them and put them away. Remember to ground and center to release all excess energy.

I have developed a method similar to this with also a similar function some time ago that is done by a special mixed ink to seal objects that radiate negative energy, or to release their energy, or to focus them into a single spot OR to do anything you want with the energy that they're transmitting really... I have always been fascinated with geometry and I include it in my crafts loads of times...
