What are your opinions on this new Knowledge System incorporated into profiles? I think this was what Pet was hinting about, a new feature that shall clear up fluffy users from the ones that actually want to learn.
I am both pleased and concerned about the mystery concerning the actual ranking system though. I do rather love that it entirely discourages anyone from even asking about how it works, haha. And no, that isn't sarcasm. It seems like a good check/balance to help ensure that the ranking remains somewhat based on the content you offer.
I understand the fluffy rank, but otherwise I think it is unfair to put a label on people. Magick doesn't have levels, and some people otherwise hide the knowledge they do have, so I don't think it is fair to put a ranking on members as if it were some sort of game.
I am uncertain. I do not think some of the rating is fair, but there is too much hidden about the true motives of the ranking that make me uncertain. :/
I think, in my honest opinion it could do some good. I think that for some people especially new members and people who aren't familar with magic might find it useful, and even experienced members.,
I think the idea is that it could show who or which people contribute more knowledge or at least make an effort to share, teach, post etc. If you are looking for posts or info on a particular subject and there are many replies, it would be nice to know who I would listen to more, than if I were just to read someones post and take it at that. Although discernment is obviously common sense, along with being able to judge things for yourself, it might not be such a bad thing.
I think that some people find it insulting to be ranked or judged, and depending on personal belief and value, it could be. Another concern is popularity side of it, but with all things there are positive and negative aspects. It is so brand new we haven't had a chance to see where it will lead. I told someone earlier the best way to look at it is this:
You know what you know, you share what you share, and if people don't like it, that is there right and their own problem to deal with, not yours. What you share with people is information, it could be factual, it could be personal belief or opinion. Either way that doesn't mean people have to follow or practice what you preach per say. It is up to each person to forumalte their own opinion on matters and to follow their own path even if they are still looking for it or developing one.
I agree and understand but I don't think that it's meant to rank or judge people based on their individual paths, beliefs, and opinions. I think it's more of a general knowledge rank, either way we still haven't seen where it will lead to, or what will come of it. I don't like to be judged per say either. But I do know that I don't like to judge things without hearing them out first or in this case seeing where it leads to, what will actually happen etc.
