Magick And Christianity

All i see about magick in the bible is it saying its bad and that the energy is evil and does not come from God. I dont know what to think but I want to get peoples opinions i guess. Is magick evil and drawing me away from god? I dont know but thanks guys.

The Bible, both New Testament and Old, are full of magic! Did not Jesus turn water into wine? Is that not magic? Of course magic itself is not evil; some people who use it might be evil!

Thank you! That is exactly what I think! Its just i guess my parents telling me is a influence. My intentions for magick at first is to learn alot and as much as I can about it and when i know enough maybe then use it. Again thanks !

well magic has a lot of uses... praying is energy and people pray to God right? Well is what kind of magic you use... If it is to heal or make other peoples life better is good.... If magic was evil God wouldn't allow it to exist.... I don't believe in evil powers anyway... I think that evil is something that comes from the humanity not from a higher power... Is like darkness and light... There is no darknes there is just lack of light... Anyway magic has its uses... so it depends

There's that rather prominent story where Moses gets into a silly little contest with an egyptian sorcerer. They both go back and forth with magic.

The old testament is thick with magic, and much of Hebrew and Kabbalah tradition goes on to influence Hermetic tradition. You will in turn find this throughout western magic - tarot cards' symbolism, the basis of many Wiccan rituals, and so forth.

I think magic can be good or evil depending on who uses it and the intention of the use, like if somebody uses magic to heal they are doing good in the world. If somebody uses a spell to give somebody else nightmares and are doing other things of that nature they really shouldn't be doing magic because they're giving the whole other ninety nine percent of the magical population a bad name.

If you believe in god then the biggest example of magic is god himself. God supposedly created everything and he created everything using magic!

The bible, in my opinion, is a great book for learning to love and appreciate each other. In religion, the book is constantly contradiction itself, spreads hate and gives orders so we don't suffer for an eternity. Most people treat the bible like a buffet, take what you want and leave the rest. That's why religions that follow the bible are down spiraling. So honestly i woulden't be concerned of what people who say the bibel says magick is wrong, because it also said that if someone cheats on a partner and the man should be outcasted from society. It also says it's a sin to wear mixed fabrics.

Christianity actually has black and white mages (though they are simply called witches and saints), the definition of a good wizard in the Bible is just extremely restrictive. I personally think that any magick users (not wiccans, just people who discovered a natural talent for magick) might have gone to the church to ask why they have such power. If they proved to the clergy that they were absolutely dedicated to God, they would be recruited for the purpose of combating pagan wizards. However, the catholic church was extraordinarily conservative, so that's just a theory.
