The lost Book of Alchemy Released

I have always been interested in the lost knowledge of ancient times. I read various books on the topics that no longer people talk about. I have been a regular user of forgottenbooks.org and they have released some great books which had been lost in print. Last week i visited the website again and i saw that they have released a new book on Alchemy which had been lost in prints. The book of Aquarius is the name of the book and its about the knowledge and power of alchemy. I had always been interested in alchemists and so i downloaded the ebook which was free. I read the book and i became a fan instantly. The author seems to know a lot about Alchemy and power of nature. I am so impressed by the author and his writing and read some pages over and over again. I would like to quote a few lines from the book here..

I know not many people will believe this. But i would like it if people just take a look at the book. I am working to make my own philosopher’s stone and i would like to have some fellow members of the forum to be interested in the idea. Philosopher's Stone? Whoever wrote this book was having a joke!

This reminds me of the anime my husband watches called "Full Metal Alchemist." Enough said.

I cannot believe that the first 2 responses to this post were people calling it fluffy. This isn't some writer having a laugh, this is big news for all of us. The secrets of alchemy, including the Philosopher's Stone, have never been so readily available. Now, I have no doubt that the myths and legends are going to be either wrong or grossly exaggerated, but alchemy is still something that all magic users should pay attention too. Alchemists were the very first chemists, and they didn't have to worry about people telling them "that's impossible" or "magic doesn't exist". I think that with the knowledge behind alchemy, "transfiguration" spells (though they would be absolutely nothing like Harry Potter) can finally be part of magic.

Alchemy is, and was, the study of science. Isaac Newton was an Alchemist. But the idea of a Philosopher's Stone was always nonsense. When an Alchemist tried to explain what his experiments were he would say," I'm trying to turn base metal into gold." Or some other load of rubbish. It was to keep the inquisitive away.
Alchemists were very secretive people.They did not want their secrets known to everybody. But some, like Newton, did publish; and the world is thankful for it!

Yes, alchemists were trying to turn metal into gold and, obviously, that is not possible. However, some of them may have discovered a way to extract gold from metal. No metal is completely pure, so you could potentially remove the small amount of gold that exists in metal. Some would have interpreted it as transforming metal into gold. You make a good point about the Philosopher's Stone though. Then again, most myths are exaggerations and it's likely that only a select few alchemists knew exactly what it was.

Extracting gold is the process through which all gold is created, purified, etc. It is the exact process that has been used for thousands of years.

Every time you create any raw metal it has to be extracted from the original materials. This is often referred to as smelting.

Likely yes, alchemists knew how to perform this task in many circumstances. It is also likely that the various ancient peoples regarded the process with a magical reverence, simply due to the wonder of being able to separate metals through heat and then have it solidify as metal.

Please understand that the search for eternal life, etc. has been explored throughout the world for thousands upon thousands years. It is not isolated to concepts such as the philosopher's stone. It generally resulted in people having too much contact with mercury (a poisonous metal, also commonly called quicksilver among alchemists), among other things.

I should point out that while the above post claims that the philosopher's stone, or whatever it was called, has been kept secret for 12000 years, mankind had only barely begun to develop agriculture (farming) by around 10,000 bc. It seems somewhat unlikely that when man had first begun to understand that if he threw seeds into dirt he could grow plants he could eat someone had developed an elixir of eternal life or some such thing...

Especially given that the population of the world was so small then (a few millions of people, I believe, is the generaly consensus) and one would imagine that some lucky devil that found out how to stave off the hardship of disease and death would want to share it with his loved ones. Yet, despite this, nobody shared it and it remained secret for 12000 years...

And, regarding that secret... well, secrets generally don't last 100 years very well, let alone 12000. Especially when they involve people who live eternally.

There have been schools of alchemy, mostly Hermetic in nature, that were referring to a spiritual transmutation as opposed to a literal one. Base metal, being the unenlightened human spirit, into gold, an enlightened spirit.

Greystagg, that is alchemy in spirituality and it is used as an analogy. I think the theory that the Philosopher's Stone was always about spiritual fulfillment gain popularity after the hundreds of alchemists attempting to create the Stone declared failure.

AwakeTooLong, you make a perfectly valid and well-reasoned point, but there are multiple theories that contradict what you said. Many psychics (I'm not agreeing with them, just presenting their claims) have claimed that much of ancient history is wrong. Sylvia Brown, one of the more credible ones, for example, reported a hypnosis patient of her's describing the construction of the Egyptian Pyramids using anti-gravity devices in Assyrian (which was confirmed by a local college professor). She, and many other psychics, have also been advocates of the existence of Atlantis. Nearly every spiritual book I have read describes humanity as once being part of a spiritually and technologically advanced civilization that collapsed and we simply forgot where we came from. If such a theory is true (and there was, in fact, a major disaster that nearly caused the extinction of the human race, though I don't know what) then the figure of 12,000 years makes perfect sense. The time at which humans originated has been changed several times and is still subject to speculation.

People forget that the diffference between Alchemy and chemistry is that Alchemists acknowledge the existence of the subtle realms and so forth. Alchemy has the spiritual aspect that chemistry does not.

While I don't believe in all of the claims of this book, I do believe that with research, something new and good might come of it.
