Old One's

Ok so I read some where about the Old One's rising again and that they were ruthless and merciless and down right evil by the sounds of it. Does anyone know who and what they are? If so can you please explain it to me.

The old ones were the first beings to come out of the void. Some see them as angels and demons, others see them as the titans. Different beings for different belief structures but all similar.

The other possibility that you might be speaking about are the Old Ones from the Necronomicon. The Old Ones of the Lovecraft mythos are ancient, evil beings. They are discussed in the Necronomicon, but they are entirely fictional.

They, and the Necronomicon, were first mentioned in Lovecraft's publications within Weird Tales, or whatever that magazine was called.

It is fiction because it was written as science fiction by a science fiction writer. He wrote of the "old ones" as ancient mythological beings who partially existed in parallel dimensions, and generally drove men mad and created death and doom.

Again, however, it was written as science fiction.

Oh ok then what is necronomicon?

I've heard about it in passing conversation. I believe the Necronomicon was supposed to be a book about opening the gates to the underworld or raising the dead, or something along those lines. However, as previously mentioned, the book is fictional.

Some view the "old ones" as merely the ancient gods and goddesses. Since those religions are no longer as popular as they were, some have hopes that they will once again become popular and be recognized on a large scale.

Why aren't they popular anymore did something bad happen?
