The word "celtic" is an umbrella term that spans scottish, irish, and welsh cultures. Celtic is too broad of a word although they do tend to overlap which is why they are put together in most cases. But during research you need to narrow it down. The religious beliefs/mythologies are an important aspect to learn as well. Irish is most popular, but the true traditional ways are still kept relatively secret. Most of what you will find is neo-pagan or wiccan influenced, so if you're looking for true ancient/old ways, you're going to need to do a lot of digging and talking to people.

Understand that the Celts did not write down those beliefs and practices that they deemed to be sacred. So what little we know of their practices comes through the writings of others such as the Greeks and Romans who viewed them as barbarians and sought to cast them in a bad light.

Understand too that while Celtic society stretched from Ireland to Turkey and from Austrian all the way to Spain that did not mean that each Celtic tribe believed in exactly the same way as another. So it is difficult to speak of "Celtic" beliefs as if they were one monolithing thing.

One of the best ways to understand Celtic magical beliefs is through reading some of the stories that are left. Even though these stories were written down by Christian monks long after the Celts had ceased to be Pagan, they do contain echoes of earlier beliefs and practices. Two excellent sites to read these stories are:

Welsh Text Archives: http://www.ancienttexts.org/library/celtic/welsh/index.html

Irish Text Archives: http://www.ancienttexts.org/library/celtic/irish/index.html

Now there are some books that are thoroughly modern in nature that nevertheless have a Celtic flavor to them that are worth looking into if you are interested in a magical practice that looks to Celtic beliefs...primarily those of Ireland. You might try these:

Glamoury: Magic of the Celtic Green World by Steve Blamires

Magic of the Celtic Otherworld: Irish History, Lore & Rituals ( by Stephen Blamires

Earth Light: The Ancient Path to Transformation, Rediscovering the Wisdom of Celtic and Faery Lore by R. J. Stewart and Miranda Gray

Power Within the Land: The Roots of Celtic and Underworld Traditions, Awakening the Sleepers and Regenerating the Earth by R. J. Stewart and Miranda Gray
