Hi everyone. I think you can tell that I've posted lots about demonic possession lately, but it is because I'm going through a very emotional and complicated situation tied to one. So, from my research, I've read nunerous times that possession cases are easily considered mental disorders. These cases are naturally hard to predict and make judgement on, and most commonly turns out to be mental sickness. But, I feel that maybe demonic entities can possess someone INTO mental illness. Thoughts and comments? ~SullenMoon
i say true, often, demons that dont necisarily posses, seem to try to torment people into questioning there sanity, u see this all the time on tv even. I think there are subtle ways to tell though, for instance, u can feel the evil. a crazy person can make u sad, or uncomfortable, but a demonicaly possesed person will drain u. u will feel ur happiness leave. the area near them will apear greyer. even blacker, more shady... u can see it in there eyes as well. either there eyes will look evil, or they will have a look that screams "help me, im still in here!". but thats just my take.

I would say that it is plausible.
Here's a few quotes from the Catholic Encyclopedia pertaining to that:
http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/12315a.htm
"..That mistakes were often made in the diagnosis of cases, and results attributed to diabolical agency that were really due to natural causes, we need have no hesitation in admitting. But it would be illogical to conclude that the whole theory of possession rests on imposture or ignorance.."
"Strange phenomena of nature have been wrongly regarded as miraculous, but the detection of the error has left our belief in real miracles intact."
"A favourite assertion of the Rationalists is that lunacy and paralysis were often mistaken for possession. St. Matthew did not think so, for he tells us that "they presented to him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases [poikilais nosois] and torments [Basanois] , and such as were possessed by devils [daimonizomenous] , and lunatics [seleniazomenous] , and those who had the palsy [paralytikous] , and he cured them" (iv, 24). And the circumstances that attended the cures point in the same direction. In the case of ordinary diseases they were effected quietly and without violence. Not so always with the possessed. The evil spirits passed into lower animals with dire results (Matthew 8:32), or cast their victim on the ground (Luke 4:35) or, "crying out, and greatly tearing him, went out of him, and he became as dead, so that many said: He is dead" (Mark, ix, 25; cf. Vigouroux, "Les livres saints et la crit. rationaliste", Paris, 1891)."
And just for kicks, here's one that talks about the parralel symptoms between demonic possession and mental illness and where it thinks the two differ:
i still think u can just tell, if u know them closely. strange things will happen, ul just feel it. u realy will see it in there eyes... and besides, in ancient times, even in the holy bible--(obviosly not exact quote) "blah blah the man was lunatic/dumb/ect, and jesus laid a hand on him, and cast his demons out". so in the holy bible, all mental illness is a demonic force, same way in egypt if im not mistaken, many cultures actualy.
and realy, who says demons cant get to a child in the womb? or in the cradle? when dealing with forces from outside this relm, one must think outside the "box"
Congrats you know what you are talking about. But demons are not the only beings that can posses. They get blamed for it even tho some are good. My suggestion is to find out for sure what the entity is then deal with it. Good luck and dont try an exorcism unless absolutly needed. Good luck and may the goddess guide you.
difrences between mental illness and possesion- to ancient cultures, no difrence. to science, one does not exist. to spiritualists, one is inherited, a physical/trama/physical trana induced problem in the brain, while the other is caused by an evil force. (however, whose to say there isnt good possesion?)
