Ok most of you think Wicca is a really old religion well i have news for you it is NOT.
It was derived from pagan religion by gerald gardener who knew a lot about witch craft. He in fact knew so much he literally went psycho saying he was a god (he had to go into intensive mental care) which most people don't mention and was never seen again.Of course he delousioned this as he had a terrible mental problem and was not ready to face it many people say gerald died of old age he really died of a serious
psychosis that lead to seizure then death at exactly 2:00 in the afternoon eastern time

This is made for my realist fans who need this kind of thing and don't have a life.

for you realists there is many unexplained things that you say are bumps in the night this is certainly not true most of the time it is a energy you would be amazed in oreses orentarius as it is a study in energy which i practice

Ummm, Gerald Gardner didn't go insance nor did he die of a serious psychosis. Gardner remained mentally competent and really quite brilliant throughout his life. He died of a heart attack on a vacation in Tunisia in 1964. Here is the newspaper clipping about his death http://www.thewica.co.uk/Gardners%20death.htm.

Nor did he ever refer to himself as a God. He was always quite clear that he was simply a human being who was trying to recreate the religion of Witchcraft. I wonder whether you might be confusing Gerald Gardner with Aleister Crowley? Crowley was in fact mentally unstable and also a heroin addict. But Crowley has nothing to do with modern Wicca.

You are correct that the religion of Wicca is a modern one. It is true that Gerald Gardner was initiated into a coven that he believed was a surviving remnant of an ancient religion. However, he received very little information from them and the idea that they were part of an ancient religion has long been debunked. What Gardner did was to take what he obtained from that coven and flesh it out with material drawn from British folk magic, ceremonial magic, and even Masonic rituals to form a coherent whole. So what is known today as Wicca doesn't go back any further than the 1930's.

I agree. I think many would take it offensive. I must ask were you get your information? What were your sources? Were they realiable? If you wish to post or write anywhere about such a nonfiction topic you must do research and be able to back up your information.

FrozenHeat has it correct. Gardner died in Tunisia; and he wrote much more than one book!
He also initiated many into Wica. (he spelt it with only one T). Notably Alex Sanders.Doreen Valiente, and Patricia Crowther.
He certainly knew Crowley; and they had many arguments, even though a few of Gardner's ideas were also Crowley's.
Sanders later formulated Alexandrian Wicca. (From Alexandria, not from his name.)

Uh Brysing :He also initiated many into Wica. (he spelt it with only one T). You wrote this and 'claim' that wicca ( two c's ) has only one c which you write as a T ? Hmmmm

Spellcaster, I think that Brysing simply made a typo and meant that Gardner spelled Wica with only one C (rather than T).

Brysing is correct about this. Gardner didn't use the term Wicca to apply to what he was doing. He referred to it as the Old Religion and those who practiced it were "of the Wica". The term Wicca came about sometime later.
