im sure theres only 1 astral plane and when you astral project you arent dreaming (you could fall asleep) you part from your phisical body so to answer your question, no
to put it simply the astral is another universe where our spirits can go. while the physical where we dwell has animals, the astral has ancient beasts we knew from myth. i have heard some people can create their own world in the astral, but i don't know about that. what i do know is the astral is a mirror image of our world, so it's as vast and expanding, so while you may project to a place where there's nothing, it doesn't mean you created it and it's yours to mold. it just means you've come across a valley, or a mountain, where no one else is at the moment. as least, that how i see it.
The 'astral' is not another universe. It exists along with ours tho on a different vibrational level. The astral has 'beings' there some we would recognize as being from myth's but not all of them. No one can 'create' their own world in a world that 'already' exists. Also it is not a mirror image it is completely different with a different set of laws and rules that govern it.
excuse me if I sound like a sci-fi character, but I beleive thats it's a place hidden between life and death, hidden in some kind fold in space and time, so we can only visit it spiritually, or as our astral self.
Many who travel/journey call it "walking inbetween the worlds" or feel that it is the point between physical and spirit. Since we are not dead, we cannot truly be 100% spirit, so we exist "inbetween" when we project. Some shamans feel they must experience a near death experience to reach the spiritual world as closely as they can (without crossing over/dying) and that once this point is reached, they will always be that close. A lot of fiction abuses that idea with movies and books about people who are resussitated and then see spirits clear as day. It is an exaggeration, as most fiction is.
The astral is mostly filled with physical people's thoughtforms and spirits that have recently died or have yet to desire to "move on" to the spirit world itself (sometimes referred to as the ethereal). Astral comes from the meaning of something under the stars. Ethereal is "above" the atmosphere (literal meaning), therefore beyond our physical world.
But the ethereal isn't "death". Spirits are not "dead", the body is dead, spirits live in a different way. The Egyptians believed our life source or "breath" left us when our bodies died and continued to exist. This should show you that death is the transition from physical to spiritual. Without our souls, our bodies would die, therefore the soul is the very source of your life. The soul/spirit is not dead, it is very much living, just not in the same manner. This is the fundamentals of most pagan faiths. The cycle of life to death to life again. Death is the transition, not the end.
