I just started really getting into Wicca. Ive read a book on beliefs and some rituals but there is still some things I feel Im not really sure of.
What exactly is the Wiccan Rede? Is it just a rule to not harm people?
How do you know your element? I feel like Im really drawn to fire.
Any websites that could help me make sure I fully understand what Im getting into? I want to make sure Im doing this right and make sure I dont break any rules.
Also this is just a random comment. I tried scrying and my flame moved to the right very quickly for a few seconds. Could this mean something?
I would really love to read your comments. Thanks!
You don't need anything you don't feel you need, and here are some wiccan websites http://www.everythingunderthemoon.net/ http://www.thewiccansway.com/ i hope this helps, you can also look on youtube.
At it's base the Wiccan Rede is a set of guidelines for moral and ethical practice regarding witchcraft and magick. Do as you will yet harm none has it's high points and low points. I am a firm believer in harming none unless in self defense yet I do not believe that do as you will is always a logical idea. As far as elements are concerned it is what you feel you are drawn too. People can have one or many. It not only has to do with your ability to manipulate energy but also your temperment ect. For instance I am a very level person who is not quick to rise to emotion responses so therefore I feel I am drawn to earth. Yet when I do feel emotion it is very powerful and deep especially my rage so I feel that I am also drawn to fire.
Do as you will but harm none is an offshoot of Aleister Crowley's "do as thou will, that is the whole of the law". Crowley never intended for "do as thou will" to mean "whatever you want" but "will" was "universal will"--being connected to the source and all things and acting upon this connection as to what is beneficial to the whole of things. "Love is the law" is also one of his quotes, which obviously demonstrates that doing things through love of the universe is the key to making the right choices. At least that's how I interpret it. I've read a moderate amount of his writing, not indepth study, so if anyone has anything else to add, feel free to expand or correct me. =)
I am not Wiccan and don't believe in "harm none" because I believe it makes people feel paranoid over harming, causing them to over analyze the tiny details of everything instead of looking at the bigger picture. I personally don't like Wicca, but to each their own. However, you should feel at home/comfortable in whatever faith you choose. You don't have to be Wiccan to be a witch.
