Hello all,
I just bought 5 gemstones from the new age store but I made a small oopsie..I didn't write down what they were! I was wondering if you guys could click on the link to a picture and help me figure out what they are. I think its agate, garnet, amtheyst, jet, and quartz in the order on the picture.
Thanks!
I'm sorry, but it is nearly impossible to tell from this picture :/
The first looks like some type of Quartz and the last appears to be blu lace agate, but I really can't tell from the lighting :/. is there a chance you can head back to the store and check? I had to do that a few years ago with a few of my stones. :)
From left to right, clear or smokey quartz, hematite, two agates and angelite (maybe?). I agree that the picture is not of the highest quality so it is very difficult to assess the stones correctly.
I can tell you what they are probably. But for sure I would have to see them in person. Also it helps to shine a light through them and on them(2 pictures) as many stones look similar in this lighting.
Stone 1 is either a Smokey Quartz or a Citrine. Probably Citrine, Now alot of people will say it is not a citrine because they have never seen real citrine. Often heat treated amythyst is sold under the name of citrine which causes a lot of confusion, but authentic citrine, Which is rare and often mistaken for quartz(as it is a form of quartz) is a light yellow like that. no mater what it is, it is a silicon based stone.
stone 2 is hard to say, almost all black stones have the same properties and are often mistaken for eachother, the only real difference being the chemical makeup and the grain pattern, but I would guess(remember its hard to say) either a Jet or and Obsidian. Either way its properties are probably a grounding stone.
stone 3 looks alot like an amythyst, but that stripe of gold in it makes it hard to say. I would love to see more pics of it to help you figure it out. It could also be a beryl.
stone 4 is definately an amitrine, which is a peice of quartz with amythyst and citrine mixed in. Unless you bought either a super seven quartz(has seven stones mixed in) but you would remember that.
stone 5 is either a blue lace agate or a cheap impure chrysacolla which is another two stones with similar properties.
With more pictures of each I could give you a more definite answer of each but without holding them it is hard to say. Hope that helps narrow the search.
