Hi I'm new

Hi all, I am new to this but have been doing lots of research. The one thing I'm confused about is do I need to cast a circle before starting spells. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello Caz, welcome to SOM, nice to meet you! :) You don't actually have to cast circle no but we cast a circle to keep ourselves safe. If you want to protect yourself when doing any work within your scared space the it's best to cast a circle & not leave yourself open & venerable.

you dont really need a circle unless you feel as if your not safe

Personally,I disagree with circles,hence,never used one.
There are paths who work with circles all the time such as Wiccan and some paths do not need circles but they can be used if you feel unprotected enough.

Choose a particular path and follow it.

The circle is a microcosm of that which you seek to influence. This is why we say 'as above, so below'. I think it depends on the type of working you are performing. If you are seeking to raise a cone of energy and then release it - a circle is very good for that.
