Just to get this part out of the way, I'm a newbie. So hi, everyone on here! I've been into the practicing of magic for a while, but only recently have I begun to search around and actually do some research (not quite the right word, but I can't think of a better one!) into actually doing it.
The point is, I'm new, uncertain and slightly out of my depth in this new world.
Talking of uncertain, let's get back to the original reason I started this thread. My family is rather skeptical of Magic and everything that surrounds it. I respect that-everyone has a right to their own beliefs-but what I'm talking about here is the fact that my family won't let me practice spells, read about them and definitely not get ingredients for them!
My point being, is anyone on this website facing the same problem or have any tips for dealing with this? I really believe that I could become a part of this but I am restricted by my family and, much as I wish to participate in this amazing art, I don't want to offend my family either. Does anyone have any ideas as to what I could do?
Hello JB nice to meet you. I think it is wonderful that you show this much respect for your family. There are times that all you can do is wait. Even tho its about the hardest thing that you can do. We parents only have our children's best interest in mind. It may not be the answer you are looking for and whereas some may tell you to rebel against your family, ask yourself is this what the Goddess would want from you. Keep in mind that she is also a mother. This is just my opinion.
I agree with Annamarehowever you also need to find your own way. You can't live someone life. You family love you, so should respect you want to find your own path. Tell them your not doing anything bad, let them know anything if they have any worries. They should know you thatyour sensible & won't do anything silly. Tell them you love them, respect there opinion just disagree. You can still have your family & your religion if you joggle.Itshould not come between you & your family. You have to dowhat'sright for you!AnnamareAnnamareAnnamareAnnamareh
Thank you very much to both of you for your kind words of advice!
I agree that I should let things rest for a while, maybe do some looking around and talk to my family about it after some time has passed. When I do talk to them, I'll try to explain to them that I won't do anything stupid and they shouldn't be worried!
Thanks to both of you once again for your kind words of advice!
If your family has said no i would do the activities on thu artical to learn with out them getting mad

I agree with all comments. you need to respect your families views but there is a deference in respecting & living unhappy to please others. You have to be true to yourself but reassure your family, as blackat has said. Blessed be!
Thank you very much to everyone who has replied! They have really helped me make an important decision.
After thinking for a while, I decided to just jump in and tell my family. I know I said I'd leave it, but after reading a few more comments from everyone, I decided it was better to tell them. It had been a few months since I'd brought up the subject,so I thought I'd give it a shot! They were still slightly uncertain, but we did come to an agreement that I was old enough now to make my own choices, as long as they were sensible. It has been a rocky road, but I am now officially a member of the community!
Hopefully I'll be able to take tips from other people as to how to follow my own Path. If any of you have got any 'beginners tips', please let me know as I'm still feeling rather out of my depth!
