Unusual Magickal Tools

EisKora's thread got me thinking, does anyone else use an unusual tool in their magickal practice?

Mine is my Boomstick. It's a wooden stick(not a wand) about two inches in diameter and about two feet long. It's made of very dark wood, I don't know what kind, very hard and when thrown, makes a very loud, very unique clattering sound.

IT has an eye screw on one end to which is attached one of those retractible dog leashes.

IT didn't start out as a Tool, It sort of evolved into one. I walk a lot, and there is a problem with dogs running loose here. I have been bitten twice, and had my dog viciously attacked while she was on her leash, so I created the boomstick to ward off dogs.

It worked very well, but as time went on it took on a presence of its own. Now I use it for warding and protection spells. I couldn't do without it, lol.

What is the most unusual magickal tool, YOU have ever used?

That's really cool! How do you use it in your spellcasting, if I can ask? It sounds like something more comfortable to use outside, where the sound can resonate (if you make sound with it during spells).

I guess the weirdest thing I've used is action figures. I work with Chaos magick, and one of the first things I learned on the subject was invoking fictional archetypes. So I dug up my old boxes of toys and had some fun experimenting with wrapping my brain around the idea. All of the personalities I perceived in my favorite toys as a child hit me like a ton of bricks. It's a very nostalgic form of magick.

I've used Batman for secrecy and doing what has to be done despite my comfort zone, going through with tough decisions. The Hulk for sheer force behind spells, and I've even used Wolverine for (physical) healing lol. As for the toys themselves, I've used them as vessels/focus points for entity creation. I'm not very creative when it comes to creature design, so having the physical toy right in front of me helps me with giving it life on the etheric plane, and I can add little customizations as needed until I am able to work without the toy.

I use it to imbue my spell with protective energy. It's also very good for calling the quarters when I need to evoke the protective qualities of the Elementals.

I have been reading up on chaos magick, and find your idea of using action figures very interesting. I was a big fan of the superhero comix when I was a kid, back in the stone age, when you could buy them for a dime apiece. Batman is an old friend.

ooo I like that scarf idea! I use a scarf as well, but more to mimic a cloak. I haven't gotten around to buying or making a proper robe, so I drape the scarf over my head or over my eyes, depending on the purpose. Sometimes I use it in glamours, for psychodramatic "unveiling" of the new look (or veiling, if my purpose is secrecy ;D )
