i have family members and old neighbors that are witches pagens and wiccans. I myself want to be a witch. But no matter how hard i try nothing i try to do works. I try to get help from my old neighbors but we moved away an now i cant contact them so im kinda lost. Any tips?
So if you moved and can't contact your old neighbors, why haven't you tried talking to your family members that you say are also Witches instead?
Are you trying to become a Witch or a Wiccan? There is a difference between the two.
Wicca is a very specific religion with very specific beliefs and practices. Certainly Wiccans practice magic or witchcraft if you will, but spellwork is a tiny part of what it means to be Wiccan.
Witchcraft, on the other hand, is a form of magical practice which can be performed by those of any religion or those with no religion at all. Some Witches are Pagan...but not all.
So to help you better it would be useful to know whether you are asking about how to become Wiccan or you are asking about how to do spellwork.
Lark makes some good points. if you moved, they should still be there, if you have family who are witches, speak with them. are you wanting to be Wiccan or a witch, or just do witchcraft, i.e. spells?
you don't need anything to be a witch/Wiccan it's not an exclusive thing, you just need to learn. spell casting really isn't required. pick up a book on the subject and learn 'the basics'; the holidays, meditation, circle casting, tools, moons, and some basic things about herbs, crystals, and the like wouldn't be a bad thing. it's a religion, so you should feel a connection with the path.
if you wish to cast spells, that's fine, spell casting isn't exclusive to a religion. but if you're wanting to join a path simply because they cast spells, it's like joining Christianity because you want to pray. it's a part of the path, but not the most important element. spell casting, a book on 'the basics' can help, but you should focus more on energy work and meditation.
my tip would be to study, if you wish to cast spells, i'd meditate, outside if possible, and try to connect with nature, and the energy surrounding us. this will help you cast spells, as well as gain a connection to the spiritual aspects of most pagan paths. also, if you're not already on it, you should begin your year and a day. this is a period [obviously one year and one day] of hard study, you should set aside an hour or so each day to meditate, reflect, study, basically work on your craft. as well, you should try to cast a circle, or hold a celebration on the moons and holidays [esbats and sabbats] to get a feel for how things are done, be it circle casting, or how each time feels in comparison to non-religious days. [though you should feel the divine every day imo] once your studies are done, you don't have to keep up with so much study and circles, but you should understand what you're doing, why you chose this path, and feel a bond with the Lord and Lady.
