you should research and study so you know what you're doing first off.

figure out what spell you want to cast [luck, love, wealth] next figure out what ingredients should be used [herbs, crystals, candles] write down the spell, then cast it. write down when, where, and how you cast it, as well as any effects within one moon cycle you felt [good or bad] if you received no effects, write that down, and try again.

basically, that's it, but like i said, you should research spells and ingredients, as well as what your views on casting time would be. some people cast by the moon, day of the week, and the hour [some go even further] so choose what you feel is right for you. some people also feel spells should be cast with items of 3, 7, 9 or multiples of them, again, choose what you feel works best. also, while all items harbour some magickal properties, certain items might not work well in your spell because you lack a connection to them, while other items work wonders because you work well. [example, i hate rosemary but love cinnamon in spells where it calls for rosemary and the magickal properties are the same, i switch it for cinnamon]

a few, i collect spells, but when i can't find one that suits my needs, i'll make my own. also, if a spell calls for items i don't normally use, i'll alter the spell to work better for me.
