It has pretty much been proven that it exists. Im a particle and field physics major, going into quantum mechanics and the finds in quantum mechanics can also support this theory because quantum mechanics says that everything that can happen, does happen. Also if you believe in the big bang theory, then you must believe in the multiverse theory, unless you are just ill informed and really haven't done any research of your own into the matter. The theory of inflation is what creates the big bang and that same theory states that this MUST occur in other parts of space. Also scientist did a test to see the amount of dark energy (opposite of gravity) it took to create the big bang and were shocked to find a VERY small number. It was a decimal number with 126 0's and then a 1. This also supports the idea of the multiverse since if we only lived in a single universe, it would be a much larger number. Also M-theory supports the idea of the multiverse as well, claiming that there can be a large number of separate universes since many vibrational frequencies holding more or less dimensions then our own universe are able to be held sound, mathematically speaking. These are just afew strong points that suggest the multiverse, but there are many many more. The reason it isn't more talked about in the scientific community is because this idea is not considered to be scientific, it is considered to be philosophical since at the point we are at now, we can never see ourselves reaching the point where we would be able to observe things on this high of a scale and sciences only exists in the realm of observations and measurements. Science as it stands now is a very limited field. String theory and M-theory isn't even technically considered science although it holds the most sound evidence for the basis of creation.
ahmdreed: even though I have the same knowledge as you and believe the same beliefs as you, I would not leap to the statement that it must be because everything points to it, and it makes the most sense from our current knowledge in science. The reason it remains a theory is because there is still no concrete evidence of it and because our limited knowledge is still so new. Again, I agree with your beliefs, but want to warn others that this science is very new and there are multiple theories as to how these things are the way they are. Once upon a time science knew our world was flat and that atoms were the smallest thing in existence. We've barely tapped into the smaller yet stuff and that is only seen using computer controlled sensors.
I would still like to finish with I strongly agree with your beliefs based on my own knowledge and experience. I hope some hard proof for non-believers comes soon!
Well I agree with you syerges, that science very new considering we have recently entered into a new era for it, an era in which we really don't even understand what is actually happening at the more fundamental levels; but to throw out the multiverse theory is to throw out many of the strongest theories we have about the universe. Personally, I believe M-theory will rain supreme in the end, even if many other theories die. This theory is able to fill in the gaps between quantum mechanics and general relativity and much much more. Not to mention the fact that a great many people who went on spiritual journeys in the past also describe the universe in the same manner M-theory describes it; being that the fundamental component is vibrations. I completely agree with your view point but the aspects I listed were just a few of the more well known components that support the theory. There are many more in the technicality of it, many of which arise from the direction science is heading, not of which the current state of science is in. I don't really see the multiverse as everyone else sees it though. As far as im concerned, energy may not even exist in many of these other universes. They may have some different format of foundation that is non-existent in our universe. I think many people still think to small mindly begin to comprehend this state of existence.
