By now you should know this is Lyjinn. Recently I was asked a question about the Satanic Calendar. I will start off by saying, to my understanding, the Satanic Bible was created and used by ex monks in the Medieval Period as a way to blaspheme the Christian Church. With that in mind, the question was, should modern day Satanist honor such a Calendar? As I said before, I will say again, Satanism is a religion of personal choice when it comes to how you worship. Personally, I have no quarrel with the Christian Church so I do not feel the need to blaspheme them. (They do a good job on their own). With that out of the way, I would like to ask my SOM Family. Do you feel that the Satanic Calendar should be honored?
You say that the Satanic Bible was created by ex monks in the Medieval Period, but I am sitting here with my copy of the Satanic Bible and it clearly states on the cover and in the book, that it was created by Anton Szandor LaVey in 1969.

Once again reality rears its ugly head.... yes, The Satanic Bible was written in 1969 by Anton Lavey. Not so cool as a blasphemous tome written in medieval times by disgruntled monks but reality is often less "cool" than myth, legend, and our imaginations.
First of all anything marking specific dates for blood rituals, kidnapping, human sacrifice, or mock rituals.. os false. Satanists do not sacrifice, kidnap, etc. I don't know why I keep seeing that calendar; most satanists are only out to better/worship themselves and have enough respect for others to not even touch them without permission.
If anything (to my knowledge) satanists follow the wheel of the year and possibly include their birthdays as a "holiday". As stated above me, the satanic bible definitely was not created by medieval monks.
I'm am Satanist and my opinion is it should be honored but not used because it is more inhuman in current society it was not supposed to be in use this far. Certain parts are ok Where other parts are not now
I guess a few years late on this one but I feel the need to add my thoughts on the subject. The first thing we have to address is the question "which Satanic calendar"? In the past 50 years since The Church of Satan started up and we Satanists started " coming out of the closet" ( or the ritual chamber) many very different groups have used the title "Satanist" to describe themselves, there is of course the CoS, the Temple of Set, the Order of the Nine Angles, the Joy of Satan, and so on, plus there are all sorts of solo Satanist from atheistic to theistic and then you got the Luciferians and on and on. Now for the most part every so called "Satanic Calendar" I've come across has been some nonsense made up by paranoid Xians (christians) but many of the different "sects" of Satanism have holidays (mainly the solstices and equinoxes or within a few days of them) and I am of the opinion that you should celebrate holidays, 1) they are a great reason (excuse): to get a day off work (paid if you are lucky) and party or relax , whatever you want to do ( if your brand of the good LHP has requirements for celebrating the day, then by all means preform them) and 2) those four days/nights are great for rituals (aka spells or workings) . However if we are talking about the asinine made up Xian idea of the Satanic calendar then I don't see the point to honoring it but if you want to then go right ahead. I follow a combo of the CoS (Church of Satan) and chaos magic so I don't really care what form of Satanism others follow, but to those that fall into one of the human sacrificing "sects": if you try to sacrifice me or anyone I care about I will respond in kind, 27 fold. Otherwise ho whatever makes you happy (except rape, rape is unforgivable and fills me with more than enough rage to curse the f#%& out you and your whole family, even if I don't know anyone involved especially if said rape is done in the name of Satan. I'm getting pissed just talking about it). Well that's all I have to say, may the Dark Lord smile upon you, Hail Satan!
