I'm haveing trouble getting my 14 month old son to stay sleep on a night. I have tried everything, all the sleep training and self soothing I am at the end of my tether!! I am willing to try almost anything at the moment!! Please the lack of sleep is starting to take its toll on the whole family :(
Try feeding him before bed. He could be hungry. Or if it is pain, try diluted chamomile tea. It tastes good, and might help him relax enough to stay asleep. Babies also need a schedule of sorts. Put him to bed at the same time every night. He'll get the idea that its time to sleep. A night light that shows figures or stars on the ceiling might entertain him as he falls back asleep. Hope this helps. Mail me if you need more. I am a grandmother and have picked up a few things. lol
One to two point five ml. Or a quarter to half a teaspoon depending on weight Of childrens tylenol or childrens acetaminaphen suspension liquid 2 times a day while teething if your pediatrician says its ok. In about 3 or 4 mths. Your baby will be cutting back teeth and a fever comes with it unless you keep the acetaminaphin in them about every four hrs. Not to exced dosing on instructions on medication. I am not a dr. But i am a mom. Talk to your dr, nurse and pharmicist. Some people choose teething tablets .
My son has this problem, somtimes its teething and growing pains. Othertimes its because he wants to fel the presence of someone sleeping next to him. If all mudane practices have failed try taking a pillow with a rexently wore tshirt from you and pour some personal power in it, as you do imagine warmthand comfort. That may help.
We keep him to a routine doing the same bath-story-bed every night, we have even had a specialist come round. Ill try the chamonil tea insted of his milk on a night. I know he's not teething as we have already been through 3 teeth (each one was a month of hell for all of us!) Thanks for the advice I'll let you know how we got on :)
Valarian root with camomile in a tea. A drop of lavender oil on a teaspoon of water onto the pillow will put most of anyone right to sleep. Refrain from caffeine 16 hours prior to your bedtime, and also refrain from refined sugars. Real natural sugars are good for you. Kind of hard to do if you live in the U.S.
As a side note, kids are said to be the natural trouble in families and that the moms are in charge of them, naturally.
for a child, i would go for some lavender essential oil placed in the room for the smell over getting a lavender stuffed pillow just in case, but try aroma therapy. lavender soothes and can put people to sleep.
not knowing too much detail, i can't say for certain what it could be, but feeding before bed, putting him to sleep early, if he wakes up, don't turn on any lights or watch tv with him or something [my mom use to do that with me] just lull him back to sleep and walk away. if you're getting up and playing with him, feeding him, or whatever at the same time every night, he could be thinking this is a common routine and in essence you're teaching him it's ok.
if all else fails, pawn him off on his grandparents for the weekend, let everyone get some well deserved rest and try again on monday.
This is "old wives tale" practiced by my great great ancestors..handed down to us....we are in the family and I am the youngest...and I am the only one who follow the "tested and proven" primitive method. However primitive, as long as it helps it doesn't matter.
1. Try relocating your baby to another part of the room or house...there might be a flowing water source under the flooring of the part of the house your baby is sleeping...
2. Try to take a piece of everybody's hair, just a cut the tip of everyone's hair including your nanny or helper, anything....and if you go outside, even a blade of grass or candy wrapper..take it..then, prepare few pieces of charcoal, burn it, leave it smoking without flames, sprinkle dried rosemary, incense and put on top those things you gathered....now, take your baby and pass him or her on the smoke, or fan it a little to dress him or her in smoke. Just be quick and that's it... My grandmother last time says, baby can be scared of something...cleanse the baby's room or your house...
