I know that there are lots of religions and beliefs represented here. So I'm wondering how your guys view death. There is no need to argue or judge others based on their beliefs. Just state what religion you associate yourself with and what you think happens when we die.
Personally I believe in the Norse traditions and would like to go to Valhalla when I die and battle, drink and eat to my hearts content and, sing songs of victory and what not. This would make me happy but I know I must earn my place in the hall of Odin.
My vision of Death is never the same. He or She is always changing and contorting to the person or animal or place we love the most so that, when we die, we don't feel so alone as we do. Unlike today's media, I don't believe Death is spiteful or vengeful. Instead, I believe Death is a comfort to those who can suffer no longer.
I don't follow a known religion, more a semblance of beliefs thrown together in my spiritual experiences (hard to explain, and really annoying to just copy-paste a wall of text); though I view death in a similar way to the Christians. Death, being the release of a soul into the gates of "Heaven" (to me, the Moon, and a crystalline palace that stands on its dark side, unbeknownst to humans who have never bothered to look) and Hell (the Sun, where spirits face the burn of the flames without ever being able to protect themselves from them).
I see life as purgatory, whereby a soul must prove to which place it belongs. Until such time as judgement is passed, a life is lived.
I believe in the Greek stories of the Underworld. Where the Heros go and celebrate and live in what others might call "Heaven", the ones who have not offended the Gods go to the Fields of Asphodel. And the ones that offend the Gods, some might call "Hell", are to be forever tortured.
i don't exactly have a religion but in my view i think when we die we become a spirit (ghost) and if we have un-finished business then we get reincarnated.
I believe in reincarnation in a roughly Buddist sense and see God as a manifestation of the collective consciousness. I've visited the afterlife while astral projecting and have found it to be a wonderful place that accepts everyone willing to be part of the Universe. In my travels I have found that every angel, spirit guide, and ascended master (messiahs, prophets, etc.) to be souls that have dedicated their existance to helping the rest of us.
My understanding of the event is as follows: We pass from this plane to the next. Much of what we experience will be the result of choices we have made, including how we want to experience death. Christians have their strong beliefs, Buddhists have theirs, and so on. I am a Norse Pagan, so I have a particular set of beliefs, which in turn are tempered by my magical training. I believe we have the choice to return, if we desire. I am old compared to most people these days. I have survived participation in 4 wars, one as a child and 3 as a combatant, numerous other smaller conflicts, plagues, storms, accidents, etc. I hope I die well, fighting for some noble cause, if I can find one.
The summer lands are in both because Wicca borrowed the idea from native
Americans just as it has borrowed from cultures and practices all over the world. And maybe Acier we shall drink together in the halls of Valhalla awaiting the final battle.
