casting a circle

As a seeker, I've been doing a lot of reading and noticed something strange. In one book, it state's to walk clockwise to cast the circle, and in another, it says to walk widdershin. Which is correct? Help???

widdershin means counter clock wise thats when your closing a circle

It depends really. Personally I always do everything moonwise, never sunwise. I have written about widdershins quite a lot on the board, there have been many topics concerning it. I'm sleepy so I'm not prepared to write in length. Just do a search in the upper right bar and you should be able to find a load of information.

In one of the Wiccan Traditions in which I am trained we cast the circle by walking deosil (clockwise) and we took our circles down while walking widdershins (counterclockwise).

In the other Tradition in which I now work we both put the circle up and take it down while walking deosil.

Typically moving widdershins was used to banishing, endings, etc. That's why we used it in my first Trad for taking down the circle. Deosil, on the other hand, is used for gathering in energy, etc.

As a solitary you can cast and take down your circle in whatever way is most meaningful to you. Understanding what the two methods of movement signify will help you know what your are actually doing with your movement.
