Hi trytobelieve,
It's interesting that you should ask that, I have heard that one asked many, many times throughout my lifetimes by both skeptics, who don't believe in gods and the devoted who think that their prayers have not been answered. It is not wise to blindly say what christian priests once said; 'god will provide' nor is is wise to say that we crezte our own fate. We are given free will but we can't change our destiny, only how we get there. I personally believe that no matter who you believe in, they will hear you, but those who are truly wise are happy with what they are given, so even if they can hear you they won't do anything that may mess up the natural cycle of karma. Psychics believe that the reason why we are unable to communicate with beings which are much higher or lower than us is that the difference between vibrational energy is too great, however, as an individual, I don't believe that gods are perfect, as they represent to us what we want to be, but we are flawed in our judgement, but you can choose what you believe for yourself. Besides, the gods attend to the great matters of the world, not a child simply braying like a donkey to the gods for a new bike, of course, I didn't mean to belittle you. If what the psychics believe is true, we probably need to cast off our physical bodies to obtain a hieght of existance even close to that of god/creator.
In all of my experiences, I have not ever directly spoken to a deity in English. I do, however, speak to them all the time. They speak to me through a gentle breeze, a flowing stream, a strike of lightning, and many other ways. I would consider that an actual conversation. If you feel that you are going unheard by the Gods, maybe you could try some soul searching, or maybe the Gods are testing you. I'm sure you'll get a reply in time! :)
How long is "in time"? Because I have been waiting for over seven years on one prayer. With no answer from the Christian God.
This is why I'm looking to see if there is a religion that has answers. Doesn't even have to be the right answers I just want to hear answers from something divine.
I can't really help you with a God that I don't believe in. I would just meditate on it. Maybe you'll be led down another path - a path with answers. Look into different religions. There's tons out there, and I'm sure that you'll find the one perfect for you! When I began to doubt that the Hebrew God was the only God, I looked into reading my Torah. It implies that there are other Gods, so maybe try praying to them. You could even ask the universe to help guide you.
Fear of what? Burning in hell forever? I don't see any parent punishing their kids forever, and I doubt the Christian God would either. He is your Heavenly Father after all! I'm sure that he'll understand that since he hasn't answered you in seven years, you had your doubts. A lot of paths don't even believe in eternal damnation. Not even us Jews believe in endless torture for your sins.
Hi trytobelieve,
I did not mean to say that you wanted a bike or anything so insignificant, I am sorry if you took offense to that, but if you truly fall into skeptism, remember, you spent 7 years praying one prayer, most people who have no connection to this god would have given up by the second month at most, you have established a connection with this god. Do not seek to find this god by speaking to him/her, find him/her in your life like Crust said. Love is the universal languiage, it does not matter what language you speak in, god(s) will understand. There is no way that everything that has ever happened is coincidental, if you must, believe that god is an evil manipulator, but if you truly seek god(s) you should think of them as every experience, emotion and thought, the goddess is mother, maiden, goddess, she is the great sow who eats her young and also the one who gives life as she wills, she is not one sided, she is many. We portray her in different ways, gods are merely the form which we worship and pray to, they are symbols of the same deity/god, we just think of them differently and give them different faces. Read this carefully, there are no big philosophical riddles here. In simple terms, you just need to believe and god(s) will give you a sign, nit through speech, but through allegory.
All I have left of my religion is hope. I'm not exactly a good person but I'm not entirely evil either. I've tried to live a neutral life. I don't really have much belief. Hence my username TryToBelieve = Try To Believe. I try to believe what others tell me even though every single person I have ever met has lied to me at some point.
I'm under the impression that the most accepted lie is the closest to the truth. Which is why I have stuck with this religion this long. My whole family believes in it so it was the first impression I was given.
My hope is that I find a way not to be tortured forever but instead to either reach paradise or continue to learn and grow.
