I know this is the "introduce yourself" section but it seemed to be the most appropriate place in the forum to post this. First off, in keeping to introductions, I am Crow. That's my actual name, hence the username of MaidenCrow. My grandparents take me to a Christian church every Sunday (I highly doubt they know I'm Wiccan, but it's generally a positive, loving environment filled with people I've known most my life) and during church I learned something new about Jesus: he taught his disciples something that is similar to some of the teachings of Wicca. I always get really excited when I find similarities in many religions, especially similarities between what's considered "mainstream" in religion what's not considered "mainstream". Some of what I learned today about Jesus seemed out of character and some of it made sense. Here's what I learned, as quoted from a printout that has biblical quotations: "As they were leaving Bethany, Jesus was hungry. Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went out to find if it had any fruit. When he reached it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs. Then he said to the tree, 'May no one ever eat fruit from you again.' And his disciples heard him say it." (Mark 11:12-14) okay so... Basically Jesus cursed the poor tree. And later on, they passed by the same tree again and it was withered and dying. I feel bad for the poor tree. This seemed really out of character for Jesus. I think so anyways. But then Jesus says "...does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them." That sounds a lot like things I've come across in my studies on Wicca: "to think it is to will it". I've seen that in a few places. And it also sounds like praying and spell casting. Another thing I learned about Jesus is that he flipped a bunch of tables in anger when he found a market inside a temple. I thought that odd, but then my mother explained to me that he regarded that place as sacred and so of course he was angry. Ironically enough, a bunch of Christian churches have gift shops inside. And I know I'd be pretty angry if someone did something bad to my sacred space. Just some food for thought. Comment if you like. I know I haven't been on here for a while and I apologize for that. Blessed be and may the Lord and Lady light your path. ^.^

Since this is not a strictly "Wiccan" site yet a Wiccan topic, I am moving it to this section where more people of the actual religion will notice it and comment. :)
