Only half asleep

A few days ago I was sort of half asleep. I could hear things from downstairs but I was in bed dreaming with my eyes closed. Anybody have any idea what's going on?

When we go to sleep we are still able to hear, that's why we hear our alarm clocks hear it in our dreams.
