Creating your own spell?

Can you create your own spell? If so, how? Has anyone done this before? Did it work?

Of course you can create your own spell. Spells tend to work better if they are personal like that as opposed to just copying from something. If you make your own you can put more feeling into it and its more meaningful to you. Which is the most important thing.

You can create it however you want. Add whatever helps you when casting. If candles help, add those. If incense helps, add that. You can write your spell on any kind of paper with any kind of writing utensil, or you can type it on your computer, or whatever you wish. Remember that what's important is the meaning and intent. The words, candles, etc. Just help you to get into the mindset to spell cast. You don't even necessarily need anything. You can cast silently using only your mind if you please (or don't have any supplies right now).

DezzyT: Thanks for the response! Oh and I was wondering if there is a substitute to using fire in spells. Or can I just skip that like you said and not use that supply.

If I'm working a spell, and I don't have a specific ingredient, I use something that may have some connection to it. The beauty of magic is that it allows you to work with what you have. If you need fire as in its presence of energy, try to draw a symbol representing fire, and imagine your energy melding with the symbol, invoking the energy of fire (spiritually, of course). If you need to dispose of something through the use of fire, try visualizing fire around the object in question as you throw it away. Try to remember that spells get results if you use visualization, imagination, and concentration. I hope I was able to help.

I agree with the comments above. You are the temple and what's needed to cast a spell is hidden within you. Objects just aid you but without them, it doesn't mean it's not gonna work.

Yes, anything to represent fire would work well if you intent on using fire.

You can skip it or replace it. Whichever you want.
