Re: Good things about Wicca By: Nekoshema / Novice

lol, good start, but you might want to start building on your points.
1)In Wicca the divine masculine and divine feminine are equal. most wiccans do see them as equal, but there are those paths who do not. wiccans see male and female energies in nature, inside ourselves, and therefore in the divine.
2)Wicca is nature's friend. please forgive me if i heard 'captain planet!' yelled in my head. many Wiccans are eco-friendly because they believe they should live in balance, and that the earth is a gift from the God and Goddess. even in the life of the Horned God, around this time of year, he dies with the harvest so we may live. hence why so many wiccans try to live green.
3)Discrimination doesn't exist in Wicca. ok, you can't say this. discrimination is everywhere, even in the animal kingdom. in a perfect world maybe, but there are Wiccan paths which focus on the female and refuse to let men join, and Wiccan paths that focus on the male turning away woman. homosexuality is a debatable topic. while many wiccans are fine with it, there are some who see it as wrong. remember your first point about male and female? well some pagans [like Gerald Gardner] view it as unbalanced since its the union of male and female energies that makes life on our planet.
4)Wiccans don't say that their path is the best. because we, unlike most mainstream faiths, aren't aloud to force our beliefs on another. if someone asks, we'll answer, but wiccans are taught that if it's meant to be, it'll happen. no one can choose anothers faith.
5)Wicca teach us how to loved everything. i suppose, but different people have different limits. some pagans will fight back in self defence while others will not. 'love they neighbour' is a cornerstone of many faiths, doesn't mean its followed 100% of the time by everyone.
6)Wicca encourage us to do everything but not harm one do everything? kind of confused by the first bit. 'harm none' as in the Wiccan Rede is up for personal debate. there was a pretty huge argument in the Wiccan community a few years back where some claimed you were not a 'true wiccan' if you ate meat for you're killing the animal, and others claimed 'true wiccans' are vegan because its harmful to the bees to take honey, or the way the dairy cow is treated. truth is, it's fine if you feel Vegan is the only way to 'harm none' but if you feel not buying fur, leather, or products tested on animals 'harms none' then that works too. you take your morals and define the Rede for yourself.
7)Wicca is against violence of animals, humans etc. i've mentioned in a few of the above responses, it's debatable on situation and personal interpretation of 'the rede'. i have been wiccan for 10 years, i donate to greenpeace, the nature conservancy of canada, and world wildlife fund, i recycle, compost, pick up trash when i come across any, eat meat [but not veal, tuna or pork on morals] and try not to say or do harmful things unless attacked. i was cursed a while back, i sent the energy back with an extra 'push' as a way to tell them to 'back off' some might say i'm a stand up Wiccan while others might be mad i'm not doing more, or that i eat meat, or i sent a curse back at someone. at the end of the day, if i lived by view of the rede and my morals, then i have no one to answer to but myself.
you might wish to read a bit more on wicca before posting further Wicked, or elaborate your points, just a suggestion.
Excellent post's everyone, very good post indeed, and true hard core facts. Nekomasha, very good adept knowledge in this boundary, how you further progressed the initial post, and then made it even more better.
I would like to add to this, Wicca is equal, and everyone has there own beliefs. We practice what feels right to us, not what other's are doing but what we feel connected to. I would also like yo say, discrimination still happens in Wicca. Some who practice a religion in wicca like gardnerian, and ect, ect still can discriminate based that someone doesn't follow the same path. This barely happens, but it still happens. Anyways good post everyone, I think you should make this an article. Good luck!
