So, I know a bit about empaths, but I don't know enough to be sure about it. What I need is some information that lets someone know that they are an empath for sure. Anything you know would be a huge help c:
Everyone is an empath. We all show empathy in some way. Some do more than others. Empathy is when you can feel how someone feels and know their pain or happiness.
I have always questioned it about myself, because of what I feel. At times when I'm outside I feel the slightest feeling of some emotion, but it will be towards a tree. And at school, like today, I caught a bad migraine when I stepped on the bus. There's this girl that sits across from me and I turned and asked her, "Are you sick or something?" She said that she had a bad head ache that was irritating her. A friend of mine also felt really bad today. I walked in the classroom, and my "feeling" got stronger when I went near him. Everyone asked him what was wrong, but he wouldn't tell anyone. So, I reached out my hand and he held mine. I looked at him and asked what was wrong, and he told me. So, I just didn't know if it was just a me thing.
Well, I am very new here and seen this forum about empaths! Mine is so strong its crazy! There are days when I can't function because I pick up on everyone around me! What I want to learn is how to tone it down when I want and turn it up when I need to!
The best way to control your empathy that I have found it through meditation. You can learn to find your center and ground yourself and shut out the things that are around you with practice. Hope you are able to control the gift that you have been blessed with.
You can control your *empathy power* using visualisation! To stop listening to other people's emotions, visualise that your body has many pores through which energy from other people comes into your body. Now visualise the pores closing. To start listening just do the opposite. This method helps for me. Hope this helps you too :)
So, I have three questions for you all. Any answers you have are appreciated.
1: Why does meditation help an empath? I meditated last night and woke up the happiest person ever, and now nothing can bring me down, unless another persons emotions get to me.
2: What more can an empath do with his/her ability?
3: How can an empath help others?
i'm personally kind of a reverse empath my emotions strongly impact those around me and meditation kind of helps me keep my emotions from making people get influenced and helps me direct it, and it also lets me focus and direct it so that i can also make specific people react, i would imagine it works the same for empaths only for receiving [1] empaths make great therapists also sales people basically anything where you work with people [2] and empaths can help people because they understand them batter [3]
