psychics asking for names

I was wondering why some psychics ask for your name and your mother's name, anyone know?

because then they know your last name and your mothers one so they would only need to guess one letter to go like do you have anyone in your family with the initials e.? to increase the odds of it being correct like 80%

It's rare to find a psychic who doesn't need any personal information. While I believe psychic abilities are a real thing, most professional psychics aren't actually using their 'powers' but ask open ended questions and make educated guesses.

Example, you go to a psychic because your mom died, and you bring a picture with you. The psychic would see it, and notice little things, and hone in. Say your mother is wearing a necklace and the psychic notice you're now wearing the same necklace. Don't be surprised if your dead mother is protecting you through the necklace. They know what to say to get your money.

I remember watching a 'psychic' who was doing a reading for a father, then for the daughter. When she read for the daughter she mentioned there was a spirit named Jane near the daughter. [Omg, the dead mothers name!] And the psychic felt a sadness like they ended on bad terms, but the mother was not mad, and she loved her daughter. [So heartwarming... Until you realize the father gave her all the information in the previous reading]

Just because a person is psychic, it doesn't mean they know everything.
