Blood has been used for magical purposes for hundreds of years. The most famous adepts of blood sacrifice, especially human sacrifices, were the Aztec and Mayan priests and Celtics druids. Blood is also frequently found in primitive Greek or Roman rituals. Blood is important in magic because it represents life force at its most basic nature. By capturing the evaporating essence of a dying body, a skilled magician can dramatically improve the energy of his spell by linking it to the mana of the body. This augmented energy allows the spell to be more powerful but it is also more demanding on the caster because he must control the fabrics of the spell and tie it simultaneously to the mana of the dying spirit.
However, for such a feat to be possible, the magician most have an inner comprehension of the fabrics of the astral space, thus making this kind of ritual only available to initiates. Another important component of Blood Magic is faith in the results it can produce. The sacrifice can't carry more power that the caster thinks it will carry. In Astral Space, the will and the emotions makes the magic happen, if you think sacrifices are just abject things you can't get any effects to help your magic.
Anyway, for those who can use it, blood can help in several ways in the magical process :
First, it can enhance the power of any spell that can be cast in a ritual manner
Second, it can help in summoning some spirits and even free spirits
Lastly, it allows the caster to use some specific ritual magic, which requires blood as a component
Just so you know, Aztec and Mayan practices have nothing to do with Nessas explanation of what she thinks is blood magick. Just wanted to clarify that. Nor do the properties Nessa adheres to the process count or work like that in workings based on Aztec systems.
I must say thats good to know. I dont know anything about blood magic myself. I do know that Lura was looking for answers and at the time no one else had replied so I looked up blood magic and sent what had the most explanation just to give lura a idea of what its about. Whether what I found was wrong or right I was just trying to help Lura. I do apologize if it offended anyone.
Nessa, please note that copying and pasting another's work and attempting to pass it off as your own is illegal in much of the civilized world. If you are going to do so you need to give the proper credit to the original authors, just as if you use their information and re-write it you still need to give them proper credit. However, if you know of a particular subject and can write on it without looking up information, it is considered legal as it is "common knowledge" that you know.
Also, the website you found is the basis of a roleplaying site as can be found by going into the homepage:
"Herein resides a vast collection of tradgicomical datafiles, recounting our characters' (mis-)adventures in FASA's Shadowrun role-playing game. What began as a forum for the on-line novel, "Tales From the Klub," has grown into nearly 10 megs of mirth! (Note: Lynx users can still access the ol' text version. Shysters & ambulance-chasers, check our very extensive disclaimers at the bottom!) Comments and critques are always welcome!"
Blood magic is form of the arts that revolves around using blood as medium for storing and channeling energy or as way of amplifying energy channeled.
Just like any form of magic it has its PROS and CONS.
PROS: enchantments last longer, allows for usage of larger amounts of energy
CONS: it leaves energy residue, users of said art are more vulnerable to spiritual treat and possession(not by much but still)
Keep in mind that there are many more that just these few but I`m not familiar with them because I don`t use this form of magic so my knowledge is somewhat limited.
There are many magical uses for Blood Magic, the thing you need to know about it is that blood is a near to pure source of your essence, using it in spell work is basically showing yourself and the celestial beings that you are serious. There are many reasons why someone will use there own blood or the blood of another, which varies wether it's consented or forced.
yes. I have found quite a bit of material on the internet about blood sacrifice and researched various ancient cultures who participated in blood sacrifice for their gods. Even in the old testament my god enjoyed blood sacrifices of peace offerings, burnt offerings and sin offerings of lambs, rams or sheep without blemish. I am in search of a book to add to my collection of spells and rituals that is specifically about blood sacrifice and rituals.i will continue my search. Thank you for your information.
