Spell broke the glass...
By:
First of all hello,
I am a solitary witch who needs to share something...with my likes.
I created a spell in which it lasted for 7 days and on the 7th day I lit my chosen candle and poured in my intent. The candle stayed lit for 8 hrs exactly. Right before it went out, the glass beneath cracked and broke into 3 pieces. I like to think my intent was so strong that that's what broke the glass, but my boyfriend thinks it was only due from the heat of the candle. Is there anyone who can share a similar experience? Or just let me know your thoughts on this?
Blessed Be.

I can tell you that when such things take place during a ritual or spell I now always consider it to be a key. I am not that experienced so I am always learning on my own. It may be obvious to someone who has learned from the more experienced and was raised in the craft. A broken plate may have some specific relation to candle magic.

My experience has been that in a ritual if the wind picks up unexpectedly in a certain direction, or the pages of your book of shadows flips then that is not coincidence. It is a key to what you need to know or do to get what you want. Usually its so obvious you may wonder why you did not know it. Your energy from the spell may be reflecting to you that you do not even need a spell because the answer is there in the broken pieces. It may be the shape of the broken pieces.

I would say if the plate broke it has something to do with another step in your spell or something that you need to know. Its probably something very obvious once you realize what the meaning is. For instance 3 pieces could mean protection, the trinity...the law of three...

It depends on what the spell was for. But look at it like a key to your spell desire and intent. I have always found that everything is relevant. And I mean everything.

It was probably the heat from the candle depending on how hot the candle was. I've never had a similar experience, but I did accidentally make a class container explode by leaving it on the stove top with a tin foil top covering it. I had no idea the stove was still on.

Thank you both for your responses!
Rocksnplants,
What you said was clear as day. And I think you may be right because I too thought similar in which the broken glass is key.
I saved each piece and I plan to revisit/meditate on them during my morning ritual.
Thank you again very much!
Blessed Be.

I would tend to agree with your boyfriend. This sort of thing happens all the time if the glass heats unevenly from the heat of the candle. It happens in spell candles and it happens in the sort of candles you keep just to decorate your home.

Hello, I have been making magical candles for twenty years. I am co owner of a store in Asheville, NC and can tell you that pretty much everyone in the magical community believes in candle omens. Of course it's easy to pass it off as meaningless science, in which case, what's the point in believing in magic to begin with? When dealing with magic and spell casting, we look to omens for answers re the effectiveness of our work. Each candle, the way it burns and other signs can be auspicious. For example, I might make 20 candles exactly the same way at the same time with the same components, and 20 people will have 20 different stories about how their candles burned. Food for thought, the number three is a magical number, typically positive. We would have to identify the type of spell you are doing to determine if maybe you "over did it" or maybe it was just a powerful end to your ritual to show you it's effectiveness. Good luck and Blessed Be!

And I wanted to add that "this sort of thing" does in fact NOT happen ALL the time. That's silly. Candle manufacturers would go out of business if this were the case. I have only heard of a glass candle maybe 4 or five times since 1991. Many practitioner's here, after lengthy discussions of exploding candles, have all agreed that this is a rare event. One friend, 40 years practicing candle magic says this (an exploding candle) has only happened to her once, but it was a huge mess and ever since, she puts her glass container candles in a pan of water, just in case.

And yet I have had it happen many times, especially when using some of the less expensive candles in glass such as those sold with pictures of the saints and other things on them. And even in the best of candles if the wick is too near the glass the glass can heat unevenly and break. Watched this happen in ritual once with the result that the carpet was drenched with burning wax. It doesn't happen "all the time" but it happens frequently enough that coincidence should certainly be considered.

Sometimes, this happens more frequently than you would, expect.

Candle magic is one of easiest forms of magic, and it can be one of the best effective methods.

I practice candle magic, however, this never happened to, me. So in my opinion, it was from the heat. Most of the, time, you do magic, raise the energy, send it to the candle, and light it for the time of use? Which i'm guessing.

So, in this case, it may have been from the energy, and heat of the candle.

However i can't say that it was from the heat for sure. I would say, meditate and write, and see what happens.
