Okay, so I was wondering because I've been wanting to take my spirituality deeper and learn more. How does one find their God and Goddess to work with for rituals and other things? I have yet to find a Goddess, but I've recently found much interest in working with Cernunnous as my God and have done as much research as I could to learn about him. I just want to know how do you know if a deity is right for you? Also I don't know if my resources I've been finding are reliable for Wiccan gods and goddesses. I still have much to learn and it's hard for me as a solitary, so forgive me if I'm not making sense. If anyone has any advice or helpful resources or even share the story of how you found your God or Goddess would be helpful. Thank you all and have a nice day!
There is no definite "way" to find your god or goddess. Look at yourself, what are your interests? What magick would you like to work with? Take me for instance, I'm a kitchen witch. My goddess is Brigid the Irish Goddess of the home and hearth. whereas my god is Cernnunos because I love nature. So look at yourself and assess that. I hope you found this helpful.
I agree, I think when you find yours your instincts will tell you so, its something that can take time and patience as it can mean something so different for everyone, trust yourself and you will eventually become aware , who seems to be reaching out to you in your life , and what you feel you are drawn too. Wishing you the best in your path.
Brightest Blessings.
This truly is a wonderful thing, when you begin the search to find your spiritual guide, god or goddess. You will know when you have connected with one because you simply feel it with your heart, for me my whole life me and my family worshiped Odin and Freyr, but only very recently has Freya come into my life.
The difference betweem Freya and Freyr is that Freyr is one of the most important godesses in norse paganism. Where as Freya is different and is the goddess of love, I was recrntly reading a book about mythology and her name sprang out to me. A few days later I had a visitation from Freya and ever since she has guided me through challenges Iv'e needed to overcome.
It is a great idea to to a ritual, but I would advise before you invoce any Gods, and as a sign of respect to know the God you are calling upon before you go about finding who your 'God guide' is. Look for signs and omens as well as they Gods may already be trying to reach out to you, but to help give you an idea, here is a link that may be of help to you :)
Well in my case i havent work with the god or goddess but i have been working with the archangel raphael. I was attracted to him because when i was small my teacher told me oh you have the same name as the archangel Rafael, which is my name, after years past i forgot about him then i started learning more about him and loved his abilities which is healing.
Okay i have a question i dont have a god or goddess but the ones who stand out to is Athena because of her wisdom and her abilities of doing useful goods , Poseidon because i love water its something
I hope i could control like element magick ,but whats funny is that Athena and Poseidon dont get along because athena won him on the challenge on who is what is called Athens today will be named after. Then i started to think is it a bad idea to have them as my god and goddess?
Not at all, even though the legends say these things. They sometimes can represent other deeper aragorical meanings, it may appear on a surface level that they do not get along. But the Gods are not worldy people like you and me, their wars and quarrels could be highly intelligent debates, or actions to represent and convey deeper spiritual meanings.
I think the best way to find this out is to ask the element you feel closest to you and let the element guide you or find out what goddess is tied to your element. The second way is your horoscope, there is usually a God or goddess tied to the horoscope.
I hope you find or have found your goddess.-
Blessed Be
