So, trying to find valuable info about spells & magic in various sites, I came across (even on this site) many fake/stupid/not real spells & rituals.
Given the fact that this specific site is very active, I was thinking maybe it needed a thread that contained... you know... some success stories or some new spells or types of magic - so that newcomers learn the difference between real magic and fantasy stuff, and more experienced people to share knowledge.
I personally, have not made any Ritual with altar or candle I'd like to share, but I'd like to suggest that certain mentalism "tricks" such as Hypnosis, or SOME cases of Cold Reading, those which involve "reading by intuition" be classified as magical phenomenon.
I would argue that, when cold-reading someone, even if it basically is deducting from details, any correct deduction incited by intuition without any previous experience/knowledge would be "magical".
I agree that it makes it harder for the magical community to be taken seriously when people are able to post any nonsense spell they want. If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. As for cold reading, I generally don't allow other people to read me since there are many things I like to keep private, but are critical to giving a meaningful reading. I like to keep my divination to myself.
Spells,I have my doubts of. Magic is real. Hypnosis is not a "trick",it is very real. I can demonstrate magic, and have done many times over the years. I have never cast a spell in my life!
That's why I put the word "tricks" between " " - because few today consider it as magic.
Though I'd like to bring, for illustration & further discussion, two passages I found on Wikipedia from a 1961 interview of Wolf Messing (the full interview is nowhere to be found unfortunately).
On Mind-Reading:
"... It's not mind-reading, it's, like the "reading of muscles" ... When human thinks hard about something, the brain cells transmit impulses to all muscles of the body. Their movements, invisible to the eye, I can easily feel."
On Hypnosis/Induction:
"... Often I'm performing mental tasks without direct contact with the inductor. The pointer to me here is the breathing frequency of inductor, the beating of his heart, voice timbre, his walking nature etc."
I love success story's too. While it would be helpful..that doesn't mean we'll have it. Pet would be needed to talk to, and it would kinda need to be agreed on. However the spells bring traffic and the mods try their best to put fluff or fake spells in the fantasy section.
If it sound fake or too good to be true type.. um common sense would say its fluff
Many people choose to believe saying a series of words in a rhythm with make it happen or true. Spells arent just something you recite when you want something done. There are rules and alot of things just arent possible because they are based on fiction. Hypnosis, magic, and spells are real but not everyone can do it as others.
The best thing you can do is try what you see and/or make your own but research what you are trying to do (materials and etc) and go from there.
Sidenote, if you believe in what you are saying you can train your mind to believe it is working. Spells and magic can be subjective if you are naive. But then again, without belief, what is magic (or anything of that sort)?
Let me try to explain what is real and what is belief.
Hypnosis is real! It is a skill used by many professions, including Medical. It has been used to stop nail-biting,smoking, heavy drinking, etc. I was taught to type by hypnosis.
Magic is real. Magic is changing one or more things into something entirely different, It can be very simple, or very complicated.
A spell is a ritual attempt to obtain a magical result. Therefore, a spell is a belief. The "ritual" is real. The result may not be real. A spell is not magic; it is an attempt to work magic.
