Well, many people would find there element by their zodiac sign or throughout mediation.

To find the element that best goes with your energy and personality, study the attributes each one is associated with. Are you easy to get along with and act as a kind of chameleon in social situations, often adapting easily into any given situation? If so, you may be water. Are you stubborn and opinionated, fighting for what you believe and rarely giving away to open-mindedness? If so, you could be metal. Fire is usually associated with either being temperamental or passionate or perhaps both. Earth is kind and life-giving - associated with those of us that like to help others; heal. Air is free-spirited and rarely likes to be tied down to a single idea or concept - they are the most open-minded.

However, I suggest meditating with each element in mind since everyone's views on the elements can certainly differ. Take a few minutes to meditate with your fingers gently playing in a bowl of water. Do the same with dirt/sand for Earth. Hold metallic stones for metal. Light and watch incense for air. Look into a flame for fire. As you perform each meditation, think and visualize the qualities of each element and how these qualities connect to you. You'll find your element, just trust your instincts.

May you find what you seek :) Blessed Be (:
