Setting Up Alters

I'm a little new at spell casting, and want to give it a go. I've been a little reading on here, and I've found tons of information on how to set up an alter. The thing is, everyone is so different, but I don't know if my setup will work. I have a piece of selenite towards the moon (east), my object I'm trying to enchant (west)
A piece of bismuth (North) a jasper stone horse (south), and a pentagram of alpaca yarn. I'm a little tight for money right now and am trying my best. Do you guys think it will work, or do need to add something (what would I need)?

Thanks!

There are two main uses for altars:

As a representation of the working you are trying to accomplish, this usually means having things which are specifically related to a particular energy or deity and the other symbolic implements which will be used in the ritual.

As a place in which you do personal spiritual work and meditation, nothing to effect a specific change per se, just general workings.

The latter could look like anything, there are no rules, it is entirely personal. The prior would have rules, but so long as you see everything as a correspondence which fits for the particular tradition you are using all will be fine. Again, this is not set in stone, just what is generally done. Your altar is your altar and if you think it is okay, then it is okay.
