Merry Meet. I am Allyx Malphas. I would like to post something I believe this site lacks. Most people, if you ask them, will tell you that they believe all demons to be evil an "dark". This is simply not the case. I do Demonic Banishings, and though rare it may be, a "good" demon does surface from time to time. Demonics and other creatures, are like human beings in the sense, they have Free will. They decide whether they want to be "evil" or "good". Some DO help you and DO defend you. I know some level of Demonkyn that can only be combated by another Demon. Some Magicks used by them, that only a Demonic can undo. How do you think you get over those if you come into contact with them? Though I do agree it's best not to trust any entity you know nothing of, I do not think it is fair to say that all Demonkyn are evil. Not all people whom attend church are good. Not every angel in heaven stayed. Free will is the strongest force ever created. No one, not even the Gods, can take it away.
Anyone who works with demons or spirits in general typically doesn't think demons are "evil" as that is a subjective term and it's hard to fit an entire group into one category. You'll find this distinction more to peoples' experience and beliefs than to specific websites and this website especially has a variety of both (not to mention the belief in demons' existence isn't all agreed upon, ranging from not existing at all to differences in what a demon actually is).
Personally, I find the "free will/no free will" focus to be heavily Christian-centric as it is not as much of a concern outside of said religion.
The interpretation of the nature of demons relies a great deal upon the individual. While it is quite common to hear such discussion of demons being more friendly and whatnot on this site, in a great many others you'll find that it is somewhat unheard of.
Traditional Judeo-Christian concepts of demonology lump many spirits together, many of which have origins outside of that faith, and refer to them as demons. However there are many other spirits (and many from such lists) that fit the archetypical concept of a demon (manipulative, cruel, self-serving, etc.)
As for whether there are some that can only be "combated" by other demons and so forth, that's quite debatable. As the original post suggests, free will is quite potent. Deciding you have spiritual limitations imparts them. Not to say that an individual freed of such self-imposed limitations can otherwise transcend the limitations of reality and physics.
Honestly, from my point of view the demons that I had encounters with most are not "evil" and most of them have good intentions from what I experienced. Demons and spitis are diverse and each one, like any other person has its own personality, mindset, and so on. It is more how you interpratate what they do if its considered "good" or "evil" based on how you define those terms. I personally go by if they have malicious intent or not but that can be hard to judge as well. Thats just my own insight on this, pardon me if I didn't word it right.
While I am by no means in the court suggesting that all "demons" are evil, it's worth noting that anything that is well and truly malicious is rarely going to approach you openly and act like they are going to do you harm.
I agree with all said, save the free will piece. All religions have some form of bring up on Fate vs. free will. Free will is limited yes, but only to the will of the holder. With a strong enough will anything can be accomplished. As I said previously, I do not believe all demons are evil and I do know of some that are serving the side of "good". Thank you for all your inputs on the matter. I just thought this site and many others lacked this knowledge. I know of few people who accept that demonkyn can have the ability to be "good".
I think I was misunderstood. Sorry if I worded it poorly.
Free will allows us to accomplish nearly anything, and what I meant was (much like you said) that it is limited by the individual. As such, there would be no demons that could only be dealt with by other demons, as you suggest.
There is, however, the natural limitations of the universe to consider. Free will doesn't allow the natural order, laws, etc. of the universe to be disrupted. Your will alone will not alter physics.
Correct. I too must have worded it poorly. I meant in reason. And if enough beings willed something to be, I dont think we can safely say what the outcome would be. Demonics do have abilities that can only be countered by certain things. Same as superman only had one weakness: Kryptonite. Some things just have few weaknesses.
Sure. I define Demonics as a form of entity like that of a low level god. They are a race all of their own, and there are different "species" of demonkyn. Some more powerful than others, some older than others. Some good and some bad. Demons are sometimes called gods by some ancients.
