When you say when you think of evil, I will find my self in shadows...are you referring to entities feeding off negative energy ? And yes, I have researched the topic in brief, it seems the average to learn projecting is about 3 years. However, I am interested in the SOM Communities experiences to compare with other research purely out of curiosity.
I've never really experienced anything serious in the other planes, though some of the creatures you meet tend to not like humans very much. Humans have a bad habit of screwing other creatures over, most notably not following up on promises, so many creatures, especially dragons and many Fae, are wary of humans. You have to be humble and polite when talking to creatures on the astral and never make promises you can't keep.
I ask a guardian or God to come with me when I astral travel. I also carry a 'whapping stick' with me juuuust in case I need it. In 20 years I've needed it only once and that was because a ghost in my home was making a pest of itself.
I was astral traveling decently the first year I started practicing. I generally only visit the Gods on the edges of the universe, but when I have traveled elsewhere, I've never had any problems.
I move through the astral plane quite often and never came across a dragon. Please explain what you see and feel when you project. I am not denying your credibility I am just curious as to the entity you are speaking of. Was it possibly an umbra in the form of a creature that possibly resembled a dragon?
I'm going to be controversial here, and I haven't been able to AP for a while since I've been so out-of-touch with nature that most magickal workings are hard to reallty perform these days (I've had to live in a city and become a part of the machine known as society that slowly murders your soul haha)
But what if the creatures we speak of aren't really.... say, set in stone on what they exactly are? What if a "Dragon" is merely a way of describing a kind of creature, and there are many different versions we can see, but we can only try to describe them from the point of view of our own? What we perceive sometimes doesn't match up with what is truly there because we really just can't see the full picture...
and a lot of cultures have also dubbed a name for a creature, and another culture has a different way of explaining it...
So it could be a Dragon or what the other person has mentioned, and maybe other things according to other people?
WhiteSinopa - Not as far as I know. I've never known anyone to get lost AP. Heck, I've fallen asleep AP and my projected self still managed to find its way home. :) As long as you're careful - having a guardian or spiritual helper on the astral and some sort of protection around you, you should be fine :)
astral projection is kind of like entering into a video game, or that episode of big bang theory where sheldon was getting around town as a robot that he called "a virtual presence"
if you ever encounter something something that you cannot handle 99 times out of 100 you will just snap to your body, depending on your level curiousity
its always best to enter your projection with the intention of covering your tracks and never travel too far too early
people who enter parallel verses early on can sometimes get confused about their own
