Dead Raccoon's..

Anyone think two dead raccoon's lying on either side of a forest paths entrance might be a bad omen? or a warning not to enter?

I went for a hike on that path and the whole time I had this bad feeling. My dad was there so I didn't want to say anything...
Luckily it started raining, so we left early.

I can't shake this bad feeling though.. like someone is watching me.

Possibly. I don't know a whole lot about bad omens, to be honest with you. It definitely sounds like it though.

It all depends on where you are, if the entrance to a woodland is by a road it is likely that they were simply part of an animal hit and run, if there are animals that are able to hunt racoons or disease that may kill them, it may well be that.

It's best to take a step back from the situation and have a look at the possibility that is is totally mundane before thinking it may be a bad omen.

Thanks you two. The following might be a bit graphic, because I'm going to describe the bodies.

I had a good look at the bodies before we left (dead animals don't really gross me out, I'm studying to be a vet tech.)

They were not hit by cars, and had been there for a while which is ODD because most dead animals get picked up by the township.

Their throats were completely decomposed at the front, and their entrails had started to come out...

We have a lot of scavenging animals in our area so the fact that those two had been untouched for so long is really strange and unlikely.

My point out of this, is that it feels far from mundane. I still feel freaked out.

It may well be a disease that cannot be sensed by humans.

Many animals will refuse to eat the remains on animals killed by certain diseases and parasites.

Raccoons in particular carry rabies, so I wouldn't touch the bodies. It may very well be that they died of disease and that is why other animals won't touch them either.

The situation I'll tell you about may be irrelevant to yours, but just to show you of another odd yet similar situation in which mystery deaths met animals

There was this protected land in Africa, forget where, the gazelles would keep dying for seemingly no reason. They were in perfect health it seemed, and even from autopsies they found no culprit. Turns out the Acacia trees, once over eaten, secreted a chemical gas into the air that caused a specific toxin to be released and it was in abnormal amounts and then in turn killed the animals because the plants were ensuring their own survival as well.
