Rhabdophobia

Hi,

I suffer from Rhabdophobia (Also known as the fear of magic.) I am trying to seek help but everything seems to be going wrong. I am literally at my wits end.

Conversely, If I try facing my fear head on - would this have any advantages?

I need some serious help.

Rhabdophobia is the medical term for a morbid fear of a rod or switch used as an instrument of punishment.

Actually rhabdophobia is defined as a "Morbid fear of a rod (or switch) as an instrument of punishment" while magic is included in its fear (odd combo if you ask me) facing your fear head on is usually a good way to combat it, unless it's something such as fear of heights or dying.

Rhahdophobia is the fear of being beaten with rods and sticks. But it is also the fear of stage magic and also of real magic such as we talk about here.

Phobias of any sort can be very persistent and really require treatment with a counselor to get to the root of them and teach you how to overcome them. Trying to deal with it by simply facing up to it can have negative effects such as panic attacks or worsening of the phobia..

Actually, facing a fear of height head on does work. I had a fear of heights for a while, and going to higher places helped in the long run.
