Is there such thing? I think I have heard of it before. If it is a real thing can someone teach me. And if there isnt such thing I may have to start it then!
I call it enchantment... and I think music has as much to do with magic, as (example) martial arts has to do with magic. You can use it for only exercise, or performance, but that's just going through the movement. Only when you align your mind to the action does it become effectively magical.
First, listening to music... you might notice that a song with a lot of minor chords sounds sad, or a song with a high tempo sounds exciting. Like Yue said, music influences your mood-- you might not want a solemn song playing while you cast a happiness spell, because your spirit is affected by the mood.
Next, actually using music... simplest way is to sing. But, that takes a lot of confidence, just like practicing magic since the knee-jerk reaction from most people about both is "You can't do that."
Your chest and skull are a potential sound chamber-- their shape and size resonates to a certain musical note. When you hum this note, your entire body turns into a musical instrument, it will tremble to the tips of your fingers. Ceremonial magicians call this "vibration", and from a psionic view this could be the physical equivalent of giving off "vibes".
With using the words and melody of music, the simplest example is the mantra. I was taught that the syllable "OM" or "Aum" has a special function in aligning the spirit. "A" vibrates your feet and legs while you sit in lotus position. "U" sends tremors in your chest. "M" makes your skull vibrate. It builds the proper foundations, much like channeling the power vortexes in your body (your chakras) from the bottom to the top.
Another example of using sound: some chaos magicians banish by laughing. Depending on the paradigm, they either send out blasts of psychic energy, or cleanse their minds with whatever they want to banish (when they laugh and they really mean it, there's no room in their mind for bad thought-forms anymore.)
Some cultures used drumming to induce a trance. Wiccan spells bind with rhyme, I think it's because rhyme usually comes with a rhythm that does the same thing (bring on a trance.)
Based on that, you have a lot to draw from to make your own form of enchantment.
this reminds me of the time my friend was singing raindrops at the festival and when she started it started to rain and when she stoped the rain stoped. I think she knows some sound spells but she never really told me how it happened.
