A newbie needs your help

Hey guys, so I am completely new to this whole spell and magic thing and would love if you guys could give me some basic, absolute beginners, spells that I could do. I don't know where to begin on spell casting and need help. Help would be very much appreciated! :)

If you are a beginner, spells are not something to start with, although there are spells that are more simplistic than others, there are no real beginner or basic spells because they all require a certain level of knowledge or practice.

It is a good idea to start with learning and when you feel capable enough, begin trying to write your own spells for purpose. I have a good list of forum posts that can be checked out but it is best to work down the list as those at the bottom may require those practices at the top.

If you're serious about learning how to do magic and with starting from the rock-bottom then you don't start out by casting spells, you start out by learning how and why magic works.

You see, there is no such thing as an "easy" spell or a "beginner" spell. One either understands how magic works and has mastered the basics...in which case the magic will work..or you haven't done that sort of work..and no spell will work no matter how "easy" it seems.

Casting a successful spell involves much more than finding some spell on the internet or in a book, saying some words, lighting a candle, waving a wand of any of that sort of thing. In order for magic to work you need to understand how and why it works in the first place. Grounding and centering, visualization, focus and intent, energy manipulation, etc are all necessary first steps to even begin to have a chance at a spell actually working...and more importantly to prevent a spell from back-firing on you.

So, my advice for anyone who is truly serious is to start by reading a few books and practicing the exercises those books will give you. Once you have mastered the basics you won't need anyone to give you spells, you'll be able to create your own spells that will be far more effective than anything you find on the net. Here's the books I suggest:

"Spells and How They Work" by Janet and Stewart Farrar

"The Veil's Edge" by Willow Polson

"Modern Magick" by Donald Michael Kraig

As mentioned above, its better to get to learn about casting spells and the requirements. Magic is more exciting when you are learning about it and learning how your will fits into that equation.

Definitely start by reading widely, and then try some simple grounding and shielding.

Lark thank you for posting names of books to read.I've been searching things I've saved about recommended books to read and cant's seem to find what I did with it. Any other books you or anyone else may sugguest would be very much appreciated and I'm sure helpful to all.

I have to agree with everyone above, I studied for well over a year before I even tried a ritual and that was just a Full Moon blessing to honor The Goddess Hecate.

Don't be in a rush, get some good books, I started with Buckland's, OMGZ I have almost 100 now, (I really go overboard when I want something) my Kindle is also full of books on Witchcraft, it's really all I read. ive been at this since the 90's and still I'm very open to others and what they advise, because your always learning and growing.

Let me ask if you can meditate? If you cant learn that first.
But try this, think of something simple you would like to see, concentrate on that one thing, really focus, see if it happens after just two weeks of thinking of it, (remember simple)

Buckland's guide to Witchcraft is a good beginners book,
also The Deviant Grimoire By Michael Blackthorne & Blithe's Spirit.
Just start at the beginning do the exercise's until you master them, and you will get there.
