Hi! I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to put magical energy into something? I'm doing a spell, and it wants me to put magical energy into a pencil. How do I do that?
You could draw a sigil in the pen and put energy in the sigil.
A sigil is a symbol you create. You give this symbol meaning, like what it stands for. Then you can put energy in it.
The idea of moving energy from place to place is pretty subjective, and there are about as many ways to do it as there are people.
The core principle is in creating a personal visualization or other way to express a focused will to a specific goal. Like the old magical saying goes; Action follows thought. Some people imagine the presence of energy as heat, others as light (or specific colors of light). Others might imagine it as a flow of water, or a more formless concept like a magnetic or electrical charge.
In the end, you will just want to experiment with ideas and images that you feel have personal power. Ones that you can mentally see or feel easily. Once you have a sense for your personal preferences, just use that to make yourself first aware of the presence of energy, then imagine that presence flowing from yourself into the object you want to charge in a way that would be natural to that visualization. For example imagining water running out your hand and 'soaking' into the pencil. Or electricity arcing into it like charging a battery. Or your hand heating the pencil until it smoulders in your minds-eye.

Another easy way to do this is in the method of energy balls. You can use the same method for forming an energy ball and placing your intent into that energy, then placing it on/in/around the object.
I strongly agree with Hatsvs' advice, I also think you should start doing grounding, visualization, and centering, - one of the basics, I believe it really would help you with what you're looking for. If you don't mind, can you tell the spell you are casting? I believe you would get better advice if you explain the spell and what your intention is.

Energy follows intention, breath and movement. So, by focusing your intention and using movement and breath to direct your energy you may direct energy into whatever you are working with. Now, this is assuming that you have developed your visualization. If you have not developed visualization that is the first thing you need to do. If you have the opportunity I would highly recommend some classes in Aikido, Chi Kung or Reiki to jumpstart your visualization and energy work.
