So one of my friends is able to see auras very well and when se comes up to me, she often tells me that my aura is a different color than what it was say, an hour ago or 2 weeks ago etc. Since I can't see auras at all, I kinda have to take her word for it but my question is, is it possible for someone's aura to change color?
There are many different theories about auras, along with various layers. Some believe that the aura color is static signifying the type of person you are along with showing your most notable traits and characteristics. Others believe that the aura shows your current emotional status and therefore it would always be changing.
I don't personally do a lot of work with auras, but I have done a fair amount of research and many people believe different things.

Your aura is your energetic body, so it only makes sense that it will change as the energies of your body changes. So an aura can change when you are sick, or emotionally upset, or happy, or depressed, etc. This is what I was always taught and what I have experienced in my own experiences in looking at the auras of others.

Here is a quick rundown of the aura as I understand it;
People tend to operate and exist on three levels. Physically (your body and brain, organs, etc), Mentally/emotionally (your thoughts and feelings), and Soul/Spirit (The enduring/immortal nature of your being). While each facet operates and exists on a somewhat different 'level' than the others, they all influence each-other on some fundamental level. Poor health can affect emotional stability. Mental obsession or anxiety can manifest in physical issues. Spiritual crisis or separation can cause emotional challenges. Or floating up into spiritual attention to the point of losing grounding can lead to physical neglect, and so on.
The aura itself is one facet of the energetic/spiritual body. the same body that includes more 'internal' mechanisms that are commonly recognized in more eastern traditions such as the chakras, kundalini, the bodily meridians, etc. All of these things refer to the movement and flow of energy within the framing of the physical body, but operating on a mental and spiritual level. This internal energy radiates through-and outward from- the body, and it is this 'external' bit, the energy radiating outside of the boundaries of the physical form, that becomes seen as this auric field.
Seeing as this glow is a part of your energetic body, it is also affected and defined by the condition and qualities of that body, which is in turn affected by your physical mental and spiritual condition. And there tends to be a distinct sense of layering. But it isn't so much the idea that the closer layer starts at the skin and stops a certain distance out, then the next layer begins, then ends for the next layer to begin, and so on. It all radiates out from you in the same way, overlapping, but each layer of the field just reaches out to a different distance before it becomes too diffused to be noticeable.
The physical; This layer is commonly recognized as being the densest and closest layer. It tends to reflect on your physical condition, diffusing out in a matter of an inch or two for most. This field tends to change and move fairly regularly. Area seeming to be stronger or weaker, darker/dimmer or more vibrant and clear, and developing in colors, all depending on the relative health or activity of a physical area on your body. By example say you got a broken arm recently. The arm might have an angry-bright intensity and a mix of colors or a rippling, active feel to it as a result of the energies of your body working to heal the injury and/or deal with the idle pain. More long-lasting or subtle problems, like, say, an ulcer, might give a reader a sense of a darkness on the physical field in the area. A sense of absence or being drained of energy.
The Mental/emotional; this second layer of the field tends to be more ambiguous/less defined than the physical, and reaches out a bit further than the physical layer can. The colors tend to seem more faded, and can be more fluid in its appearance. People who are angry or defensive in emotion might have an appearance of being spiky or covered in thorns. It might have a more aggressive color to it, and flow and shift as if reaching out to attack or push away at others. It is, as one would expect, more fluid and malleable when compared to the physical 'layer'. The general sense of positivity or negativity, and the intensity of the emotions of the moment tend to affect the colors and vibrancy/intensity of those colors.
The Spiritual; This aspect of the field tends to be the most abstract, but also the least changing. It reflects the influences of your spiritual attentions and attitudes, and the overall enduring nature of the Higher Self/Soul/insert your favorite term here. As with the other two layers this one tends to extend out farther than the mental/emotional but is also more diffused/softer in presence. In this layer the colors, vibrations, and general shapes of it tend to reflect a person's spiritual tendencies, strengths, and overall focus. The influences that come from the combination of past experiences, lessons of past incarnations (if you believe in that sort of thing), and overall spiritual goals or callings. The more spiritually connected/focused a person is, the more 'visible' or vibrant this layer tends to be, and the more obvious the overall color/vibration becomes.
Some aura readers can interpret the distinctions between the differing Impressions, colors, and vibrations of the different layers and locations of the aura. Others tend to see an overall blended amalgamation of everything together. And, of course, for some it merely depends on what they are looking for/tuning in to.
