I need help on how to cleanse something of someone else's energy, or negative energy in general ie candles,idol statues, handmade jewelry from online. I don't want anyone else's energy getting in the way when I make an offering to my Gods. Any help is appreciated!
Burning sage throughout your home is very good for cleansing. I like to burn sage and charcoal, and incense will leave behind a calming aroma. Good luck and blessed be!
Sage is a good way as mentioned above. You could try placing protection around your home in the form of amulets and jar's, the witches bottle is popular and effective. Broom's and bell's are tools casters use to displace the negative energy in the air, those might be useful to look into as well. Carrying black salt and various crystals in your pocket also discourages negative influences. In favor to your request there is quite a lot you can do for this exact purpose, the possibilities are endless. Blessed be.
I've found physically cleansing items to be quite helpful in cleansingenergies, as well. I'll wash items with soap and water when possible (getting soap with herbs or scents associated with cleansing can help). Of course, some things would be harmed by this, but it may be an option for some items.
I'll also leave items in nature for a couple days. I've found that will "reset" energies somewhat.
Smoke cleansing with incese or herbs is also effective, and I use salt quite often, when it doesn't effect the item at all.
It depends on your beliefs, of course, but those are some methods I've found to work for me.
There is not a lot of information on ritually cleansing items that has been recorded relative to the Northern tribes. From what can be found in the sagas, you basically have three options to which you would have to personally decide would be the most effective. The first is to invoke the magick of the Goddess Freyja and ask her to cleanse and make fit the items at hand. The second is to call upon the magick of the Dwarves as they are attached to the four elements and hold the sphere of the world. The third is to Perform Seidr magick as the Volva as described in the Saga of Eric the Red and accomplish your task by removing negativity while in a trance state. This would be stretching things a bit. There is a fourth option but it relies on your personal belief in eclectic practices. That is smudging with sacred herbs, utilizing fire, salt, water or air for cleansing. My personal suggestion would to leave the items outdoors with an offering to the land spirits (land vaettir) to cleanse them for me as the items would be stored and used on property that they have dominion over anyway. Any of these options would most likely work, but of course it is up to you to decide.
