Blood Magic

Okay, so a question I have had recently is if blood magick is black or white magick. Would it considerably be white magick if you were using your own blood to make a spell more powerful, even though that spell is for a good cause (ex: Helping the earth, or helping a friend)? Or would it be black magick either way?

Blood is a very powerful tool in magical practice, as it is viewed as a source of power and life force. It is a direct link to the individual from which it is taken and, therefore, it is believed that any act of magic worked with it will have a greater affect on the individual from which the blood was obtained.

That said, it can be both used for positive or negative purposes, and things in between. It can be used to anoint personal power objects, as offerings to spirits or deities, or as power objects in spells for healing and protection or those for misfortune and bad luck.

So, it all depends on how you use it, if used in Black Magick, its Black Magick, if used in White Magick, its White Magick?

It's a tool just like any other. Your intent and desire behind its use determines the outcome. It is neutral until acted upon by the practitioner.

The thing to remember is when we describe magick with color, we are describing intent. White magick refers to a healing, positive intent while black magick refers to harmful, negative intent. Blood magick itself is neutral, so it can be used both ways.

Blood magick, in my practice at least, is used more for binding than anything else. Blood can be used to give a kick of your own personal power to a spell, yes, but only if the spell is for your personal use. If you're performing a spell for another person, best use their blood. Blood can also be used as offerings to a deity or spirit, more specifically those who represent life, death, and rebirth, if that's something you're into as well.

Please note if you do plan on using another person's blood to follow all safety protocols, including using sterile instruments, clean towels, rubber gloves, and rubbing alcohol. Only take what is necessary for the procedure. Do not exceed more than a few drops of blood.

If you, or your participant, should be seriously injured during these practices, dial 911 (US) or 999 (UK), or head to the nearest emergency room. Unless otherwise instructed, apply pressure to the wounded area with a clean towel until medical personell arive on scene to advise otherwise.
