3: what consequences could there be to using certain magic, since you told me it can "boomerang" back This is the only time magick ever really gets tricky in my opinion. A lot of people only do the "light and love" magic because they dontwant to orknow how to prevent boomerangs. Curses, blood magic, or love spells tend to have consequences if you do them wrong (regardless if you believe in the 3 fold law).
Do a curse wrong, and it will reflect off the person and hit you right back (i have heard you can prevent this by using certain things in your spells. Like a dead bee. but I haven't tried that myself.)
Blood magic can be dangerous for a few reasons. One you should never cut yourself ever and if you do that can be serious. Get infected. It's not pretty. And should you do it, it tends to really drain a person of energy
A way around that is mainly for women, but just use your period blood. It is super strong because it came from a sacred place on the human body, you didnt have to harm yourself to take it - it just be flowin. and its the most powerful blood there is.
If you are a man and cant do that method, you can use like the left over blood from your steak dinner, or chicken livers (drain it for the blood and then deep fry them livers, magic and dinner. done)
Many do not feel ethically comfortable cursing and hexing and yes many traditional practitioners have experienced backfires without necessarily subcribing to a karmic belief.
One of the main reasons spells can backfire is that individuals can have certain protections in place. Some examples can be an individual's ancestors and other protective spirits redirecting such energy of negative intent. One need not be a practitioner to be protected. We all have ancestors.
Another example are practitioners. Usually a practitioner will have home or other forms of protections, such as spell work, wards etc.
Before using witchcraft related protections I would use a visualization as I was more of a spiritualist in the past.
Then there are other advanced protections that will reflect negative workings back upon the sender. In example, attempting to curse another whom uses mirror or return to sender protection techniques.
Backfires do not always happen with curses. Healing spells can actually succeed in not working, as an individual's ancestors know what this individual needs. If the individual needs to learn lessons from an illness. Curing the illness if it isn't right, isn't likely to be achieved.
Blood magic itself isn't used entirely to curse either. In many previous workings I've used blood, a small amount from a finger prick, to add in personal power.
Blood magic can be utilized as well for positive workings when viewed as a power source. I see it being pretty practical for healing work.
That said it does need to be done safely and properly. And I would not necessarily use it often myself. In many cultures blood is considered very sacred.

From my experience in life and magical practice there are all sorts of lessons and paths that beings take. The high road only is high based on ones perspectives. What is a blessing to one may be a curse to another and no one is immune to the universal energies as it is a collective whole in which we are a part of. All sorts of natural and unnatural items can be used in magical workings and practice, blood being one that has been used a lot throughout our world history.Many of our ancestors bled upon the earth before us giving their lives to better the future lives of their species. Please let that sink in as you realize how horrific human history is and continues to perpetuate.
Blood magic can be used to protect just as easily as it can be used to harm. The book The Red Church by Balardi mentions the special significance of blood and the Christianprayer of their faith healers. The blood on their bibles held significancebut was obtained naturally as injuries would occur.
Blood magic is a form of magic that is often taboo yet a necessary part of the craft and life. As every being has energy and naturally has this energy protecting them to a degree. Our blood is part of the energy field and it carries all sorts of cells the body needs to function properly and then get rid of efficiently. Powerful healing magic is based in a lot of blood magic in my opinion.
You can also purchase blood from certain butchers if you do not harvest your own animals or have another way to access the blood you require.
I like to keep in mind that the energy in concepts like putting one's blood, sweat, and tears into a project is a form of blood magic, one that occurs naturally for a lot of people. Adding a blessing, ward, or other magical working to this may amplify the goals.
