Generally it just means that there is a lot of dust, smoke, or other pollution in the atmosphere. This sort of red moon appears when the moon is closest to the horizon and fades as it climbs towards its zenith.

However, if this happens during a lunar eclipse it is also known as a " Blood Moon ". In astrology this symbolizes many different things depending on which Astrological House the moon is in at the time of the eclipse. That last Blood Moon occurred on 26 May 2021 and the next one will happen on 15-16 May 2022.

This year the Blood Moon fell in Sagittarius which puts a high emphasis on high emphasis on exploring, adventure, and following through your dreams.
