Worship Advice

Hello Y'all,

I am fairly new to a lot of this stuff and after doing a bit of researching I found the story of Lilith. Now as a trans-woman the whole part of her resilience and resistance against Adam and God, and their desire to subjugate her felt quite inspiring to me. If I wanted to worship, her as my patron goddess how would I go about doing so. I feel that since being LGBT in general is something that defies the traditional views on life, gender, and sexuality (like how she fought against Adam). I feel like she would sympathize to an extent with the LGBT cause or at least understand someone like me. I would appreciate any advice that can be provided.

Usually the simplest and most common gesture is to put together an altar. They don't need to be big, or elaborate. Or expensive. It is essentially just a space within your home that is dedicated to recognizing her presence and influence in your life.

A small table in a corner is more than enough to suffice, and either a small statue or even just a representative picture. Or if you don't have much of a collection you can just set up a candle and declare that it's light is dedicated to Lilith.

The idea is to create a spot in your home that you can go to when you want to dedicate time and thought towards your relationship with (and inspirations from) the figure of Lilith and what it represents. Until you get to know her better (IE; research her, her history, and the stories where she is mentioned) a simple offering of some incense and perhaps fresh fruit would do the trick methinks. At the core of it, the real offering is your time and investment/attention. The rest is more or less a symbolic reflection. A physical action of honoring to mirror your internal recognition and gratitude.

Over time this altar will come to double as a sacred space where you might go to 'speak' with her, as you would any other deity or guiding entity. And it can be used as an early focal point for your practice.

Thanks for the advice, I am currently living in a small apartment where burning offerings might not be advisable. But I appreciate the advice anyway. I have a few ideas based off of your post that I might be able to do in a bit.

Glad to help. Adaptation and creative problem-dolving tends to be a cornerstone of magical practice for many. Space limitations, access to supplies (or even natural space), personal predisposition, and of course social environment are all fluid things. Sometimes creating many more limits than opportunities. While challenging at times, being kept on your toes definitely fisters an attitude of adaptability!

....Seriously, all those alliterations were not intentional. @_@

Sometimes all it takes is a tea-light and a few minutes of contemplation. They burn quick and clean, are available in bags by the hundreds, and are so common as to be innocuous even while in use.

Other things can be a small potted plant you can care for, especially if it blooms. A drawing or poem you create yourself and stick up on the wall. A couple rocks that you find which 'call out' to you. A piece or three (or fifty) of crystal like quartz, kyanite, opal, obsidian, jade... anything that you feel a connection to when you hold it and pay attention to the present moment.

Found feathers, coins (especially if they are stamped with personally significant dates), heck even a neat leaf or bit of moss can be dried out and incorporated into your collection.

For most, an altar isn't something purposely designed and put together. Not at first, anyways. It is something that comes together over time as you happen across tools and items with significant memories attached to them. Things you collect one at a time because you find meaning from them. I guess you could say that the items you build your sacred space with find you as much as you discover them. Some come right away, others might only come together for you as you gain experience and the life lessons they represent. They become symbols of achievement as much as tools of focus.

I agree with Spirit, but I want to add that it's also important to remember Lilith is a Jewish demon. Please keep her Jewish origins in mind when building a relationship with her.
